Daily Football Analysis November 3rd 2009

Sportingbet.com have started some new bonus games, as you can see from the picture, this morning when I logged on this message came up.If you are into those type of games and you feel lucky feel free to join in and participate. I always found myself to be extremely unlucky in these types of games
Enough of this, let’s focus on the great day, because it’s Champions League time. I am expecting a great set of games today, although a prediction on any of the games would be a blur. I mean you would have to account, who is getting out of the groups, who is close to getting out of the groups and who’s not going to make it. Judging from that you would hope that the teams that are qualified already will not try as hard as the teams trying to qualify. The teams that won’t make it, just might as well play for few points.
Having said that let’s try to analyze today’s games and see what we can get out of them. Let’s start with Maccabi Haifa v Juventus. Juventus needs the points since they are second and an eventual draw or loss will put them probably on the third place behind Bordeaux and Bayern. They did have some trouble with Maccabi last game playing home and won only with 1:0. Maccabi on the other hand has 0pts but has no losses in the Israeli league. The team is in great shape but not a match for the European top teams. Having zero points means they wont make it out of the group so they can play for “honor” at least. I am sure they will put up a fight against all teams in the remaining games. But as I said Juve needs points and I don’t think they can afford loosing any versus the weakest team in the group. My pick would be an away victory for Juventus.
Next on the list is the other game from the same group between the teams of Bayern Munich v Bordeaux. Bayern loose the first game in France with 2:1 and is 3rd in the group with 4 points. They do need a victory if they want to keep their chance to qualify.Bordeaux is so far first and is standing strong. I am thinking that both teams realize there are 2 games left after this one so nothing is lost yet. A draw is logical from my point of view and that would be my pick an X.
Next are Manchester United v CSKA Moscow . If you watched the previous game, you would be sure that CSKA Moscow can be awfully pissed after loosing in the 87th minute, when everything was going well and the game looked like a draw. However they play well mostly in Russia and I doubt they will show the same performance in England on Old Trafford. United has already qualified though with a full set of points (9) they can test out new strategies and players, so I am not sure how well would they do. My pick for this game would be a home win for Manchester since they play strong at home.
Next on my list are the other two teams from the same group Besiktas v Wolfsburg . Clearly Wolsfburg is probably the better team, however you did see how hard is to play in Turkey even for Man. United. Besiktas has some great fans that make it hard even for the top teams to perform at their regular level. Since they have a point only I think they would want to get a victory here just for prestige. My pick would be a home win for Besiktas.
The derby of the night is called AC Milan v Real Madrid. The last time these two teams played in Spain, Real lead but then Milan turned the game over and won. This time the “battle” between the two will be in Italy. C. Ronaldo will most likely no play today as well. And after seeing the embarrassing loss versus Alcorcon I am likely to believe that real will either loose or tie the game tonight. My pick would be a home victory for Milan.
Next are the other two teams from the group Marseille v FC Zurich . Zurich is the absolute outsider of the group. Although they won versus Milan, I call this just being lucky. Marseille is playing well although they are not among the top teams in Europe. However in France their stats are good and they did beat Zurich in Switzerland already. If they actually win today they might even have a chance to qualify if they take down one of the top 2 in the group. So my pick would be a home win for Marseille.
The games from the last group are APOEL Nicosia v FC Porto and Atletico Madrid v Chelsea. Let’s talk about the first game first. APOEL is a pretty unknown team from Cyprus. However they tied Atletico in Spain and were quite hard to beat in Portugal. Porto did take the win with 2:1 but should consider themselves lucky for not missing it. However my pick would be an away victory for Porto, since they do need points to stay close to the leader Chelsea.
The second game from the group I think is pretty obvious. Chelsea had no problem beating Atletico at home and I doubt they will have any problems beating them away. My Pick a victory for Chelsea.
So there you have it folks. Be sure to check out my Daily Picks. Thanks for visiting and good luck betting tonight.
P.S Half-Time: Well half-time right now the only strange score is Man United 1-2 CSKA , but the next 45 minutes will show us how that’s going the end. I am currently watching AC Milan v Real M. if you have chosen another game, switch to this game and you wont regret it. See ya at the games end!
1:25 am: A lot of ties at the end. I was thinking an X for Man United… but then I changed it to a home victory thinking there’s no way they would screw up on home turf and here they did. Kinda surprise with Chelsea as well. I hope I get more right tomorrow. Good night!
