Barclays Premier League

Good day everyone!

Sorry for not posting earlier, and yesterday as well, but around the major holidays we have some in between ones, and it’s kinda hard to do anything when you are not at home. I see that Tottenham and West Ham have started already so we will not be discussing them.

Let’s take a look at the games left for today:

Stoke v Birmingham 28/12/2009 15:00 GMT
Everton v Burnley 28/12/2009 15:00 GMT
Chelsea v Fulham 28/12/2009 15:00 GMT
Blackburn v Sunderland 28/12/2009 15:00 GMT
Wolverhampton v Manchester City 28/12/2009 19:45 GMT

So without wasting time let’s focus on the first game Stoke v Birmingham .Statistics shows advantage for Birmingham, 4 games between the two, two ties, two wins for Birmingham. What’s even more impressive is that Birmingham have not lost any of their last ten games. They continue to play quite strong and take the 8th spot just a point behind Liverpool. Stoke on the other hand are on the 11th spot, loosing the last two games vs Manchester City and Aston Villa. The team seems to be doing all right this year, although they keep on loosing points vs the top teams and tied against teams that they should be able to beat. Tonight I will go here with the draw between two. They did end up 0:0 in August this year so seems logical to look for another draw game here as well. The odds seem a little bit low for a draw @ the average of 3.10

Next on the list are Everton v Burnley. These two have played only once against each other, and it was this year August 23rd where Burnley won with the minimal 1:0. Everton tied their last four games, and while that was a success vs Chelsea and Tottenham, seemed like the team could have won over Sunderland and Birmingham, scoring early, but then letting to be equalized.Burnley has 5 ties in the last 10 games, so a tie between these two seems quite logical. In the same time both teams take the 13th and the 14th spot so they do need the 3 points to move up a little. I know a fifth consecutive draw for Everton is risky to predict, but I would go with it.

The most interesting game for tonight, at least for me would be Chelsea v Fulham. Would Chelsea be able to win today, that is the big question. They have tied 4 out of their last 5 games. United already caught up to them, now just 2 points away, Chelsea must win. Fulham did trip United already, but at home, can they do the same for Chelsea but away? According to the statistics that’s quite possible. Out of 8 games at home, Chelsea has won 5, but tied 3 with Fulham. Another draw game today, will give United a chance to equalize the points! Go with a X2 here, cause the risk/reward ratio for a home win just isn’t worth it @ 1.33 I know it’s not likely on the game to end up X2 but it’s much more worth it to cover 66% of the outcome with good odds.

Next on the list are Blackburn v Sunderland. Since 2006 these two teams have beaten each other always with just one goal difference. Blackburn has the advantage with more wins, but they lost their last game earlier in August this year. Both teams are in the middle of the table, 2 points a part. A victory here today for Blackburn would mean, catching up to Sunderland and leaving them behind. Both teams seem to have equal stats as well. Both tied their last games, and lost the two before that, and have few more ties before that as well. I will go with the draw here as well based on how many draw games we saw in the recent premiership rounds.

Last but not least are the teams of Wolverhampton v Manchester City . I don’t know how many of you were convinced that Man City has found the right path, after their last victory , but I wasn’t. Although 2:0 is a good score, I thought the game could go either way, but City just scored whatever they had as opportunities. They did beat the Wolves earlier this year in August with 1:0. The odds are good enough around 1.80 to go for the away win, if you believe Mancini has made a difference. If not not a good pick would be the tie. Personally I remain unconvinced and would go here with the draw @ 3.40
