Barclays Premier League Analysis January 9th 2010!

Barclays Premier League games are scheduled for tomorrow!
I don’t know if you are aware but the weather condition right now in the UK is pretty bad, and that’s why the Carling Cup games got postponed!
The soccer stadiums and the terrains look fine, but the football fans can’t get to them, because of the snow!
And playing without a crowd isn’t really an option, because first, a lot of people would want to see the game live, and second team would actually loose money for not having visitors and selling tickets and etc.
Hopefully we won’t see that tomorrow and all games will be played exactly as listed below:
Wigan v Aston Villa 09/01/2010 15:00 GMT
Arsenal v Everton 09/01/2010 15:00 GMT
Birmingham v Manchester United 09/01/2010 17:30 GMT
West Ham v Wolverhampton 10/01/2010 13:30 GMT
Let’s start with the latest game, and that is West Ham vs Wolverhampton. First of all, both teams needs the three points! They are at horrible positions 17th and 15th and each point lost will get them closer to the red zone! They have played against each other four times, three wins for West Ham and one loss!
West Ham playing strong at home recently, although they lost unluckily against Arsenal in the FA cup, they played equally well and didn’t deserve to be eliminated! The Wolves are horrible guest, although they made quite a surprise beating Tottenham win 0:1 few rounds ago. Both teams have their chances to win this one, so we shall see.
Looking over the odds, seems like West Ham is favored to win, and I would agree with that. My prediction is a home win for the Hammers, based on their performance recently and the fact that, they need points to move as far away as possible from the red zone.
Next on my list are the teams of Wigan and Aston Villa. What seems to be an easy to predict game, might not be what it looks like. Aston Villa are one of the teams that would wanna take Liverpool’s sport in the Top 4. They have equal points with Man City, both with 35pts and two points ahead of them is Tottenham.
Wigan showed some good games being the host and beat Hull for the FA cup with 4:1. They also tied Fulham and Blackburn at home and beat Sunderland with 1:0. However Villa realizes that in order to stay in the battle for the top spots they have to keep on winning, especially versus the mediocre teams that fill the lower half of the table.
My prediction for this football game would be an away win for Villa! The odds for a draw are good as well, but I personally will stick with Villa’s good performance this year, and their urge to stay with the Top 4!
The next game is Arsenal v Everton. This game seems pretty straight forward. Both teams have a lot of games played, and according to the statistics Arsenal has 14 wins, 3 draw games and 3 losses. All of the losses and two of the draws were when Arsenal was a guest. So basically when Arsenal has been hosting the game, they had one draw and the rest have been wins, some of them pretty convincing with 7:0.
Arsenal have a shot this for the title! Currently they have a game less, and only 2 points behind Man. United. A win will definitely be needed here, so when they total number of matches played equalizes they can be on the second spot! My prediction would be a home win for Arsenal, but I would keep this game off my betting slip, since the odds are low, and in my opinion surprises are not likely to happen, at least on this game.
Last but not least is the game between Birmingham v Manchester United . United has been showing disappointed performances lately, loosing to Leeds at home with 0:1 for the FA cup, loosing to Villa at home with 0:1 few rounds ago, and loosing to Fulham away with the embarrassing 3:0. Now there seem to be two problems in the team.
The first one is that a lot of defenders are injured, and West Brown seems to be making a lot of mistakes lately. The second one is, there are not enough goals! United needs strikers that can make from all or most opportunities for goal a GOAL. Failing to do that will leave them with nothing, like in Leeds game. Birmingham on the other hand are doing great this season.
They are a superb host, winning 3 out of 4 home games, and finishing 0:0 against Chelsea, in their last home game. They also finished 2:2 with Liverpool away, so that’s gotta count for something as well. Currently standing on the 8th spot with 32 points the team really has a chance to get on the sweet spots in the upper half of the table.
According to the stats between these two teams out of the last 6 home games, Birmingham has lost 4 and tied 2. Although that’s discouraging they have the potential to tie another one, and why not even win it. If you are able to tie with Chelsea, you are definitely able to tie with United as well.
My prediction for the game would be a draw between the two. If you feel that it’s too risky, take the 1.50 for United, but be cautious about them having injuries, and being able to take out the whole starting squad.
Hopefully the weather will allow these games to be played tomorrow, and we would be able to enjoy again some English Football as every weekend. Don’t forget that a lot of the other if not all major Football European Leagues are resuming! A lot of surprises expected there, since the first games after the holidays break usually mean not an optimal shape for each team.
A lot of interesting games in Serie A and Primiera Division so be sure to look out for those games as well.
