Carling Cup derby of Manchester Semi-Final

Here it is, it’s Tuesday and the Semi-Final for Carling cup is here. The derby of Manchester is on for tonight after being postponed because of the heavy snow that fell in the UK. A lot is expected from the game, I think in a way it’s too much.After all it’s still a semi-final, and this is only the first game.

Usually City plays strong against United, that’s no doubt. If you can recall the last game that ended 4:3, you remember that 4th goal was scored in the 96th minute, after the referee gave a 3 minute overtime in the 93rd minute. Manchester City felt like the draw has been taken from them on purpose and would want a revenge tonight in front of home crowd, although I do not think the home/guest factor matters when both teams are from the same city.

Ferguson has already given an interview in which he admits that City are now considered a tough opponent. He also admits that fey key players like Ferdinand and Gigs will not appear tonight,but the starting team will be strongish. He says he will mix some of the more experienced players with some of the younger ones.

City have done great since Mancini came in the club as a manager. However facing teams from the lower half of the table was in fact doubtful if they improved. Latest score of 0:2 vs Everton have given us some reasons to believe that City are still struggling with the better teams in the Premiership.

I see a lot of flaming in the forums today, about the outcome of the game from both sides. My prediction personally for this match is a home win for City. I believe Tevez would be eager to score against his old team, that didn’t really give him much chance to play. You all probably remember as well the scandal for his transfer, that could raise the tension as well.

Looking over the past few games of United, I must say I am quite disappointed with their attack, failing to score on so many occasions and experienced players like West Brown making childish mistakes.
