After the first day of the World Cup, few things went through my mind.

First the great opening ceremony and the effort everyone had put in it. Seemed that everything was calculated to the last move and the whole show was brilliant.

Then came the time for the first game. As I have predicted, Half-Time, did ended draw and the game ended Under 2.5 Goals, so the game really turned out almost as I expected. I loved the South African goal, it’s definitely one of the most beautiful goals I have ever seen.

What I didn’t like is the vuvuzelas. In fact I am going to either stop watching the rest of the games, or watch them with mute on. I understand that they are part of the South African culture and everything, but it’s giving me headache and it’s making the game very very unpleasant.

The sad thing is that the local think that FIFA is letting them use the vuvuzelas, because they care about their culture and traditions. Please….. FIFA is only worried what’s coming into their pockets as a profit. With prices of $10 – $62 per vuvuzela, and ear plugs at the cost of $3, the sponsors and the federation are making tons of money from this conflict.

And it’s well hidden under a noble cause, so no one suspects anything. In fact FIFA is so greedy that they forbid the local shops to sell souvenirs, and gave that right to the sponsors. Talk about carrying now about the locals and their traditions.

Second game was kind of boring ,due to the deficiency of goals and opportunities perhaps, but it was as noisy as the first one. Looking forward to today’s games, hopefully it will be quieter and more peaceful than yesterday. If not, oh well I will enjoy the games on a soft music with mute on.
