Come watch on July 3rd the game between Argentina and Germany. The Deja Vu from World Cup 2006, where in the quarter final the very same teams met again.
Why do you want to watch this game? Because it’s promising to be the best game we have seen so far in the tournament. Four year ago these two teams finished in regular time 1:1, in extra time 1:1 and the penalties decided the winner. It was Germany with 4:2, but let’s not forget he home factor, and Germany was indeed the host of the World Cup.
Both teams came to this quarter final rather easily, than hardly making it say like Ghana. Argentina won all three games in their qualification group, 1:0 with Nigeria, 4:1 with South Korea and a 2:0 with Greece.
In the rounds of 16 they had no trouble against Mexico, although their first goal was very disputed because of the offside which Tevez was in. The game ended 3:1 and Argentina advanced.
Germany had also no problems, although they did slip once against Serbia, loosing 0:1. Since then they have been perfect. In the rounds of 16 they finally gave a beating on England for that 1966 game long time ago. At 2:1, a goal from Lampard wasn’t counted which created again a great debate. The game ended 4:1 and Germany advanced.
What to expect from this game?
A neck to neck game. I am expecting the same tactics enforced by the Germans the last World Cup, while Argentina will stay loyal to they style and play aggressively. I expect to see one of the most enjoyable games until now.
Knowing the capabilities of both teams I doubt that everything will be decided in regular time. However I do expect Argentina to advance in the semi-final.
The Betting Verdict?
Argentina – advances to the semi-finals @ 1.77 (Betfair.com): The German team has never shined with fine individuals, but they have always been one of the strongest teams in the world. This year Argentina seems to show us that they are a fine team and they have the individuals that can tip the scales in their favor. I think the old fox Maradona will be able to qualify this team to the semi-finals, no matter what it takes.
