I doubt this comes as a surprise, but Wenger has a top priority for this summer to find a new goalkeeper.

Blick reports that Arsenal has stopped on Diego Benaglio, the goalkeeper of Wolfsburg.

Arsenal has been looking for a goalie for quite a while, but without luck. At one point the team was interested in Ajax’s goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg.

With two injured goalkeepers, Wojciech Szczesny and Łukasz Fabiański, the team’s only option was Almunia, who’s performance has been disappointing. Wenger had to call Jens Lehmann for a keeper until the end of the season. Since the departure of David Seaman, Wenger hasn’t been able to find a quality replacement.

All hopes are now for Diego Benaglio, who might come at a price, since his contract expires in 2013 with Wolfsburg.
