Arsenal meets a transformed Liverpool on Emirates, this Sunday. However Liverpool has always had difficulties facing the Gunners

Currently the Gunners are taking the second spot in Premier League with 62 points in 31 games, a home record of W10 D3 L3, scoring 30 goals and conceding 12 in those games. Arsenal hasn’t won a game on Emirates since February 23rd a victory with 1:0 over Stoke City. Arsenal has drawn the last two home games, and hasn’t been able to score a goal in both. The last time the team met Liverpool here, Arsenal won with the minimal 1:0.

Liverpool are currently 6th with 48 points in 32 games, an away record of W4 D2 L10, scoring 16 goals and conceding 26 in those games. The team has had mixed performances, important victories against Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City, and silly losses against West Bromwich, and West Ham. The most recent away game was against W.B.A, where former Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson took over, and after his team was losing 0:1, Chris Brunt equalized and reversed the match in the 89th minute.

This match seems important to both teams, having in mind that Arsenal was knocked out of Champions League, fell out of FA cup, and lost the Carling Cup final, the only thing left for them is this year’s title in Premiership. Liverpool on the other hand was knocked out of Europa League, and at one point the team was on the 19th spot in the league. Now the team stands 8 points away from the 4th spot, but it’s perhaps too late in the season for the Reds to reach that.

The last 6 games between Arsenal and Liverpool on Emirates:

10/02/2010     Arsenal vs. Liverpool    1:0
28/10/2009     Arsenal vs. Liverpool    2:1
21/12/2008     Arsenal vs. Liverpool    1:1
05/04/2008     Arsenal vs. Liverpool    1:1
02/04/2008     Arsenal vs. Liverpool    1:1
12/11/2006     Arsenal vs. Liverpool    3:0

Overall Liverpool has 4 victories as a visitor, however their latest one dates back on 13/02/2000 , where Liverpool won with the minimal 1:0.

I would back Arsenal for this game, because out of the Top4 teams, they seem to be the only one that has been giving Liverpool trouble over the years. I am aware that Liverpool are uplifted and have shown very good coordination against City, United and Chelsea. Arsenal in the same time has had trouble scoring against far worse teams like Blackburn and Sunderland.

My prediction however would be victory for Arsenal, as this is the last train to pursuit that title, anything but a victory here and it’s over. Good luck betting.
