Aston Villa, ahead of Liverpool with 2 points, needs to win their home game to stay on the 6th spot.
If we can believe the media that the winner of FA cup, which could be Portsmouth will not be allowed to play in Europa League, then the next on the line is Liverpool.
If this happens they Liverpool has nothing to worry about, but until the decision is final, Villa has to get what’s theirs and keep it that way.
Villa with a home record of 8 wins 8 draws and 2 losses, has had some frustrating time with so many draws on home ground. Blackburn, taking the 11th spot needs nothing from this game, and my guess would be that the season as far as they are concerned is over.
However we are aware of the fact that the English teams play ’till the end. Away record of only 2 wins 5 draws and 11 losses, didn’t bring a lot to Blackburn this year, but the 10 home wins got them where they wanted to be.
What to expect from this game?
I am expecting an open game from both sides. Although Aston Villa needs a victory here, while Blackburn nothing, I expect both teams to put an effort.
Villa has proven to have quality young players like Ashley Young, Agbonlahor, Carew, Milner. I however blame Martin O’Neill for not giving a lot of rest to his players, which probably played them a bad joke and the 4th spot slipped on them.
Bottom line, I expect Villa fully motivated for Sunday’s game and a win.
