English Premier League Weekend Round

The last game from this weekend’s round of Premier League will be on for tonight.

After Villa, loosing two points in the game versus Stoke and Man City, literally stealing a point against Sunderland, Liverpool has now the chance to get on the fifth spot.

A possible victory tonight will bring them up with 51 points, only a point away from Tottenham, but with a game more as well.

So without wasting more time let’s look into this game and find the best betting options.

Liverpool v Portsmouth 15/03/2010 20:00 GMT

Liverpool v Portsmouth : Obviously the odds of 1.3 are not good enough, especially when Liverpool has been playing like a “loose cannon” the whole season and you never know when they are going to draw and easy game or even loose it. What does the statistic say? Portsmouth doesn’t have a win against Liverpool as a guest since 1951.

However the last game, where Portsmouth was a host ended with a loss for Liverpool with 2:0. Here’s something kind of funny, Liverpool’s home record 10 wins 2 draws 2 losses is a mirror image of Portsmouth’s away record 2 wins 2 draws 10 losses.

Since I already said that betting on a home victory with such low odds isn’t a good idea (here is why) I will look for some other bets that seem logical.

Seven home games in the past seven years, 4 of which ended Under 2.5 Goals and 3 Over 2.5 Goals. By looking at the lack of offense power from Liverpool this year and the financial condition of Portsmouth my suggestion would be to go with the Under 2.5 Goals bet. Odds are quite nice 2.24: Bet now at Betfair.

Another good bet might be a draw on Half-Time. Out of the 59 goals Liverpool has scored, 31 are in the 2nd half, as for Portsmouth out of 42, 25 scored in the 2nd Half.
Odds of 3.00 Bet now at Betfair.

Another option although risky but quite possible is that Liverpool scores quite a lot between the 40th-45th minute a whopping 11 goals so First Goal 41st -50th minute might be a well placed bet as well. Odds of 9.8 Bet now at Betfair.

If you are likely to take the draw @ Half-Time, then Half-Time/Full Time bets could also be a good option for you. The odds of 1.88 for Liverpool/Liverpool and 4.7 for Draw/Liverpool or even 9.8 for Draw/Draw seem profitable.

My prediction for this game would be Under 2.5 Goals, but again, if you are tempted by some of the other bets I mentioned, go with them. After all football betting is always about risk taking.

The odds I mentioned are as of now so hurry up and place your bets before they go down!
