Good morning soccer fans!
Nothing like a cold, windy, and rainy Sunday eh? Day2 of Barclays Premier League, that should be very interesting. After Manchester United defeat last night, the question of the day is “Would Chelsea be able to increase their lead to 6 points?”. Would it? Give me your opinion in the comment section!
Before we get to Chelsea, let’s take a look at all of the game we would be able to watch today:
Wolverhampton v Burnley 20/12/2009 13:30 GMT
Everton v Birmingham 20/12/2009 15:00 GMT
West Ham v Chelsea 20/12/2009 16:00 GMT
So let’s start with game #1 Wolverhampton v Burnley! Looking over the statistics, both teams have quite a history in the Championship Division. The wolves have 2 defeats at home and 7 wins, which should give them an extra boost of self-esteem. They also were able to beat Tottenham away so that’s a big plus for them. On the other hand Burnley took points from United, Arsenal and Villa, which speaks for itself about their shape and their current 12th spot. I would go here for the draw, since both teams have kind of unstable performance, and the weather condition might be a big obstacle for a quality game today.
The second game on the list is Everton v Birmingham! Although statistic is in favor of Everton, they have been struggling this season. The 15th spot in the table speaks for that! Even though they were able to take a point from Chelsea, and Tottenham, the team is not in a great condition. Birmingham on the other hand hasn’t lost a game since October 17th against Arsenal, and has only wind and ties since then. Their last 5 games are 5 wins two from which are away. The team is currently taking the 8th spot, but after a possible victory today, they can climb up to the 6th spot, leaving Liverpool and Manchester City behind! I would go here for the away victory, since the urge to get in the top spots seems somehow bigger that, the urge of just accumulation points not get in the red zone.
And lastly, it’s the game that everyone awaits! West Ham v Chelsea. It’s been 6 years since the Hammers haven’t won over Chelsea on their own stadium. But if we have learned something in the past week is that statistics don’t always mean something. However Chelsea has the chance today to get ahead of Manchester United with 6 points and make the difference good enough for them to relax a little. However West Ham has tripped, Villa and Arsenal this year at home, so you never know. I would go here for the away win, but I will put em as a 1X perhaps or just a X in my system tonight.
