It’s Wednesday, the 2nd day of the mid-week Premier league round in England.

So far my weeks has gone crappy, going 1 for 3 on Monday, and 0 for 4 yesterday.

I feel like I should take whatever I am picking and reverse it and they everything will be fine.

Just kidding, there are always periods of downhill in football betting, and I am sure everyone has experienced it once or more.

We have some quite interesting games today, that will have a direct impact on the 4th to 7th place.

Aston Villa v Everton 14/04/2010 19:45 BST
Wigan v Portsmouth 14/04/2010 19:45 BST
Tottenham v Arsenal 14/04/2010 20:00 BST

Aston Villa v Everton: With 2 games less than Liverpool and currently taking the 7th spot, Aston Villa has the chance to actually get on the 6th spot, throwing out Liverpool from the places for Europa League. However today is not gonna be an easy game, against Everton, who hasn’t lost a game since February 28th 2010.

Villa’s home record of 7 wins 7 draws and 2 losses, shows that the team plays strong at home, but those occasional draws loose them points. In the same time Everton started the season pretty crappy, however they shape improved a lot after New Year, and a possible victory today will bring them 3 points behind Liverpool and only 1 point behind Aston Villa.

Earlier this season both teams ended 1:1, but Everton looks like a brand new team these days.In 7 of the last 10 games, both teams have scored, and in 6 out of the last 10 games, the end result has been Over 2.5 Goals.

Personally I feel that this game can go either way, or end up a draw, and it would be hard to predict the outcome. However, since both teams are striving for spots in the top 6 teams, they might actually both go for the goal here.

Prediction: “Both Teams To Score”    Odds: 1.80    Bookmaker: Bet365.com

Wigan v Portsmouth : The battle in the red zone, as usually will be quite interesting. Wigan is the first team above the red zone, with only 4 points away from the teams in there. While Portsmouth is 100% sure to be playing next year in Championship, and has no chance anymore to get out of the situation they are, Wigan can manage to save themselves.

Home record of 5 wins 5 draws and 6 losses, shows that the team is inconsistent at home, and it’s quite unpredictable if the team will win or looses. However I do think that today they will achieve a victory, and you might wanna go here for the home win. Why?

Well Portsmouth is going to play an FA cup final, against Chelsea, and to be honest, they perform well only in FA cup as of now. Perhaps they would wanna save strength for that final. Would it really matter if they move to Championship, with 14pts or 29pts (the most they can get if they win all of the remaining games)?

Prediction: “Wigan home win”    Odds: 1.53    Bookmaker: Bet365.com

Tottenham v Arsenal: Probably what’s considered to be the most interesting game of the night. Each team has a goal today, which is pretty important for the overall placement in the table. A possible victory for Arsenal today will bring them on the 2nd place, 1 point ahead of United. If Tottenham achieves victory they will be 1 point behind the 4th Manchester City.

The statistics shows that out of the last 9 games since 2002 where Tottenham has been a host, 6 of them have ended as draw. Out of those 9 again, 6 have ended Over 2.5 Goals.

And again, out of those 9 games, 8 have ended with both teams being able to score. Only their last game, last season ended 0:0 where neither team was able to score.

I think we are gonna see an open game tonight, where both team will go for the goal. Of course Arsenal will not be as effective, without Fabregas, but I am sure they will do their best. Personally I do feel that the game might end up a draw, but this wouldn’t favor any of the two teams.
