It’s wide known that two is more than one. Well in football betting a 50% chance is higher than a 33% chance.
What do I mean? Some bets offer you 50% chance of winning, meaning it’s either going to happen or not going to happen.
A classic example of such bets is Under/Over 2.5 goals, Both Teams Will Score, Under/Over Corner kicks, and etc.
However usually in the beginning of their gambling journey everyone starts with the 1 X 2 bets, also known as home win/ draw / away win.
In that scenario you only have a 33% chance of getting the game correct, since it’s not necessary that one of the teams will win, and the game might end up a draw.
So why is the majority still going for the 1X2 instead of the bets that give you the higher chance? Here’s the catch: It’s easier to analyze and pick a winner, than to get the correct amount of goals, or which team is going to score and etc.
When you analyze a game looking for a winner, you pretty much take into account, the direct games and how many victories the certain team has achieved, his home/away record, and his few last games.
When you are looking for a bet like Under/Over 2.5 goals, you have to also take into account, how well is the team’s offense doing, how strong is their defense in the same time, are any of the starters injured. But that’s not all, in the same time you have to take into account the same info for the other team, and then try to come up with a logical and probable outcome of the game.
So while you do get a better chance of making a profit, it’s much harder to be certain in your choice, because of the internal factors(the things I said above). And while, the better team might have no problem winning over their opponent in a rainy day,on a bad terrain, this certainly might make them score less goals than usual, thus screw up your prediction.
So my advice to all beginners is, to give these bets a try, and boost their chance of winning with 17%. If it works out for you, then great you found out and easier way to be profitable. However if you feel that you are doing worse, then get back to the old known types of bets. Recommended sportsbooks for Under/Over bets are Bet365, Victor Chandler and SkyBet.
