Benfica
Benfica has started the season well in Liga Zon Sagres, recording 3 victories and a draw, sitting on the second spot with 10 points, behind FC Porto with 12. Benfica will be looking for a good outcome in this game and in this group in general as their previous 3 appearances in Champions League ended with the group stage. Latest match this weekend was at home against Vitoria Guimaraes, a game won with the score of 2:1. Benfica went through a qualifying round and a play-off round to reach the group stage. Won both home games, and is currently looking for their seventh home victory in Europe.
Manchester United
Manchester United started the season superb, by winning the Community Shield after losing with 0:2 on half time and reversing to 3:2. Since then the team recorded 4 consecutive victories in the Premier League, which puts them on the top spot. United are the current runner-up from last year,as they’ve lost the final to Barcelona. They had also lost it in 2008-09, again against Barcelona, but in season 2007-08 they managed to win the trophy against Chelsea after penalties. So in the past 4 editions of Champions League, United has played 3 finals and won one of those. In last season’s edition, the team recorded 3 away victories in the group stage.

Prediction
Despite the fact that both teams are still unbeaten in their local leagues, it’s well know that the English teams are far more prepared than their colleagues from Portugal. United has acquired a lot of new brilliant players which brought a lot of speed to the team and goal power. In 4 games, they have scored 18 goals and conceded only 3.
Without trying to underestimate Benfica, I am positive that a home victory here would be a surprise. The odds for such are 4.60, while the draw is priced at 3.60 (bet365)
The odds for United are dropping fast, and with reason. I believe this should be your banker for today. The team feels to be a lot better from what we have seen in the past years.
My prediction, victory for Manchester United.
