Birmingham drew seven and lost just one of the eight home games against the eight teams who finished above them in the 2009-10 Premier League table last season. They created this unbreakable wall at home, and for many months in a row they were unbeaten on their stadium.
The last six Premier League matches between Birmingham and Liverpool have ended as draws – if this ends all square it will equal the Premier League record for consecutive drawn matches between two teams.
Steven Gerrard has scored in six of the nine Premier League matches he has played against Birmingham City, which is a good hint to include him in your betting slip.
What to expect from this game?
Well I doubt we are going to see any dynamic in this game, or brilliant play from both teams. In fact, being unable to beat each other for so long seems to be becoming a habit, it’s like the teams are going out to play, “knowing” the final outcome.
Liverpool needs a win here to climb up closer to the places they are aiming for, while Birmingham’s solid performance at home hints that this will not happen easily.
