Round 35 in the English Premier League, where Blackburn meets Bolton. After a loss to Manchester City earlier this week, Rover must win now
At the moment Blackburn are taking the 16th position with 35 points in 34 matches, a home record that reads W6 D6 L5, scoring 20 goals and conceding 15 in those games. The team is only a point away from the danger zone and desperately needs at least a draw here. In the previous home game on Monday against Manchester City, the team played a good game, but missed their opportunities to score and lost the game in the last 15 minutes. Blackburn’s most recent victory remains the one against West Bromwich on January 23rd 2011, and since then the team has recorded 2 losses and 3 draws.
Bolton had to visit Fulham on Wednesday, a match they lost with 0:3. The team however is taking the 8th spot in the table with 46 points in 34 matches and has nothing to be worried about. Their away record reads W2 D5 L10, scoring 15 goals and conceding 27 in those games. While Bolton have played well at home, they haven’t won an away game since November 13th 2010. After the victory over Wolverhampton on that day, the team has recorded 9 losses and a draw.
Bolton is the worst visitors in the top half of the table, picking up only 11 points this season, and only 1 points since the beginning of 2011.
Blackburn has recorded only 2 home victories since the beginning of 2011, over Liverpool and West Bromwich. The team has one of the worst statistics in terms of conceding a goal first and getting points out of the game. In 16 matches, when Blackburn have conceded a goal first, they have been able to get a point only out of the game twice, and lose the remaining 14 meetings.
Most recent meetings between both teams on Reebok stadium:
21/02/2010 Blackburn vs. Bolton 3:0
28/01/2009 Blackburn vs. Bolton 2:2
24/02/2008 Blackburn vs. Bolton 4:1
22/10/2006 Blackburn vs. Bolton 0:1
14/01/2006 Blackburn vs. Bolton 0:0
With the season almost over, and Blackburn’s good performance against Manchester City, I am willing to give them another chance and back them in this game.
The team needs a victory here mostly because, away from home, the team has picked up only 1 points this year, the game against Arsenal (0:0). Bolton are done in a way for this season, sitting comfortably on the 8th spot, 4 points ahead of the 9th and with still 2 home games remaining.
My prediction would be Blackburn to win in order to save themselves from relegation. Good luck betting.
