English Premier League Weekend Round

After the fabulous game last night for Carling cup, our hopes are for another great semi-final tonight.

There are two English Premiership games, that can be quite interesting as well.

Although all three games can be quite unpredictable, I would try to analyze them, based on statistics, and hopefully make the correct predictions like last nights.

The three games I am talking about are:

Barclays Premier League:

Arsenal v Bolton 20/01/2010 19:45 GMT
Liverpool v Tottenham 20/01/2010 20:00 GMT

Carling Cup:

Aston Villa v Blackburn 20/01/2010 19:45 GMT

Let’s first start with the Carling Cup semi-final between Aston Villa v Blackburn. As you may or may not be aware, Villa was able to win the first leg, as a guest with the score 0:1 which makes tonight’s job much easier. Since even the draw would guarantee them placement in the final, it’s hard to predict, how hard they would try tonight.

However by looking at their home record for Carling Cup 2008-2009 they have 6 wins 3 draws and 2 losses, and this year until now they have 5 wins 5 draws and one loss. I am pretty sure Blackburn will go for that goal since the first minute, but Villa would be looking for one as well. It’s too risky to play 90 minutes for a 0:0

My predictions would be a draw game, based on the risk/reward ratio here. The odds for a draw are on the average 3.50 while for a home win 1.65, and either end result would please the team from Birmingham.

Now let’s move on to the games from the English Premier League. Just two days ago the teams of Arsenal and Bolton played a postponed game, and Arsenal easily won with 2:0 away. Now playing on their home stadium, I doubt the gunners will have any problems at all. Not that they cannot screw up, but if they actually win this game, they would surpass Manchester United with 1pt and be with equal number of games.

They would actually tie Chelsea at the 1st spot, but Chelsea has a game less. I would keep this game off my betting slip because of the low odds.

Now the second game from the EPL seems way more interesting and it’s between Liverpool v Tottenham.A win today for Liverpool can mean, the 6th spot just a point behind Man City and Tottenham. However we are all aware of their current shape, and winning seems a very hard task. Tottenham are in a superb shape, although they tripped last round at home against Hull City.

My prediction for this game would be an away win for Tottenham. I believe they have more potential this year, as well as a better team, and would do everything that’s required today to go home with the three points.

Thank you for visiting tonight, good luck with your bets and picks! Enjoy the games tonight with a cold beer :) .
