Last three games of this round of Carling Cup are played today. The most anticipated game is Arsenal v Liverpool for sure. Both teams need the victory in this game,Arsenal has to prove that it’s still in a great shape after the shameful draw versus West Ham. Liverpool on the other hand has to build up their self-esteem after the big win versus Manchester United.

At the same time, both teams have important games this Saturday. Arsenal is taking on Tottenham at home, while Liverpool will be visiting Fullham. Premiere league is probably more important for both teams, but that doesn’t mean they will not try to qualify for the next round of Carling Cup. From what I could observe last night, being the host of the game gives you a little bit of advantage, because of the home turf and the fans.

But then again when it comes to these two teams I am pretty sure, where the games is played makes no difference. Looking at the statistics both teams have played only once in Carling Cup and the game has ended 3:6 for Arsenal. Since late 2007 these teams have played between each other 8 time, 6 from which have ended up a draw and two victories for Liverpool.

Earlier this week, Rafa Benitez has announced that their 20 million pounds transfer Alberto Aquilani will be sitting on the bench for a first time. Just a reminder Alberto Aquilani came from Roma, but with injured knee and had been recovering since until now.

Usually on such games from the Carling Cup the Gunners keep Cesc Fabregas, Robin Van Persy and Andrew Arshavin off the team so they can rest. As for Liverpool, Gerrard will be 100% out since he got substituted in the game vs United in the 20th minute. Torres was on a pain killing shot in the game vs United so he would like miss this game as well.

Seems like a quite hard game to predict tonight. With so many key players missing, and Carling cup not being a priority of any of the teams it’s all about the skills of the reserve players. However we haven’t seen them play much and are not familiar with they current condition as players and as a whole team.

Looking at the odds seems like Bet365 has the highest ones from my affiliates:

2.10 for Arsenal victory
3.40 for a draw
3.40 for Liverpool victory

So do not miss out if you haven’t registered for this great bookmaker do so. You will notice that a lot of times their odds are the highest
