Two old rivals meet again after a pause of seven years. Of course, both teams are not these football grands that they used to be, but without a doubt this game would be interesting to watch and bet on.

Starting with a bit of history, in the two seasons of Champions League in 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 both teams have met 4 times, where AC Milan won 3 games and tied one. In total, the teams have met 10 times, where the Italians have 5 wins while the Dutch 4.

Obviously Ajax’s wins where in that time during the 90s and before when they used to be one of the best teams around the world. Since then however they have no victory over Milan, and tonight will be a real test for them.

Zlatan Ibrahimović who’s leading Milan’s attack now, was leading back then Ajax’s attack. Clarence Seedorf was already in AC Milan that year, but at one point of his career back in 1992-1995 he used to play for Ajax as well.

Other players that were involved in those games back in 2002-2003 where Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo, Inzaghi and Massimo Ambrosini.

In Group G AC Milan has already gathered 3 points in the game against Auxerre with 2:0, while Ajax lost their first game away from Real Madrid with 0:2.

While AC Milan’s defense isn’t as solid as once used to be, Ajax scores lots of goals in front of home crowd. With Ibrahimovic leading Milan’s attack I expect the Rossoneri to get at least a goal here.

The Betting Verdict?

Over 2.5 Goals @ 2.08 (Register at Betfair.com – get a 25£ Bonus): Both teams would be looking for a victory here, but Milan can go home happy with a point as well. Ajax however would need to score at least a goal to get their first points in this group. I expect both teams to depend on their attacks, expecting a good amount of goals, due to both defenses being weak.
