Champions League Round

The moment all bettors have been waiting for has come.

The quarter finals in Champions League are starting today and you would sure wanna bet on them.

Of course taking in consideration that this is the first leg, some surprises and unexpected results are possible.

Quite interesting pairs in the quarter finals, I will try my best to analyze each game, so we can all make quality bets today and Wednesday and hopefully come out profitable.

Here are the games:

Tuesday March 30th:
Lyon v Bordeaux 30/03/2010 19:45 BST
Bayern Munich v Manchester United 30/03/2010 19:45 BST

Wednesday March 31st:
Arsenal v Barcelona 31/03/2010 19:45 BST
Inter v CSKA Moscow 31/03/2010 19:45 BST

Lyon v Bordeaux : The french derby which is very anticipated in France. Lyon has been unable to beat Bordeaux in the past year loosing both games in 2009 with 0:1 and 1:0.

Currently Lyon are 5th in the french league 1 while Bordeaux are first, which shows that Bordeaux are in better shape overall. Not to mention the fact that Bordeaux are the only team on the Quarter Finals that has won all 8 games. Yup, they won every single game in the groups and the elimination round.

Having in mind that this is the first game, I would go for the draw this game, which will leave the options for both teams open. Odds of 3.30 in Betfair.

Bayern Munich v Manchester United: Both teams have quite a history where, Bayern has won 3 out of the 3 games played in Germany. United with Wayne Rooney has been quite a goal machine this year, and they will be going for the victory for sure.

Let’s not forget that while United easily passed the first elimination round, Bayern was lucky enough to surpass Fiorentina with 1 away goal more. Not to mention the fact that the fist match in Germany, they luckily scored in the 90th minute with a goal from offside.

I am not a fan of United, but my prediction would be an away victory for them, odds of 2.56. I believe that if Wayne Rooney plays as he did until now, he ought to score.

Arsenal v Barcelona: A hard game to predict. However Arsenal is aware that they need a victory on Wednesday if they wanna have a chance in Spain. Barcelona are currently not in the their top shape, and if you watch their visit in Germany against Stuttgart you probably saw that 1:1 was a pretty lucky score.

Both teams have met only once for the final in 2006 , where Barcelona won with 2:1. Wenger said recently in the media, that he will want to bury demons tomorrow night and get a revenge for what has happened 4 years ago.

Is Arshavin the answer for Leonel Messi? We will see tomorrow night. My prediction would be a minimal home victory for Arsenal in England ,which will leave the game open for the 2nd leg in Spain. Odds @ 3.25 in Betfair.

Inter v CSKA Moscow: This is consider the most predictable game, since everyone is expecting a win from Inter’s side. Well, while this is true, you can’t neglect the fact that everyone was expecting Sevilla to advance as well. Let’s face it CSKA Moscow is not be under-estimated.

CSKA Moscow are for the first time in the history in this stage, so they have nothing to loose here really. I am pretty sure they will go for the goal tomorrow, which will lead to a very open game full of goals.

My prediction would be Over 2.5 Goals odds @ 2.12 in Betfair.
