No real surprises in the world of sports betting last night, where most games ended as expected. Today, Tottenham will have to face Dutch’s champion for last year Twente.
After being a goal behind in the game with Inter at home, Twente was able to equalize soon enough and turn the game around. However they didn’t manage to keep their net clean ’till the end of the match and the game ended 2:2 with both teams sharing a point.
Tottenham started really strong against Werder leading with 0:2 in the first 20 minutes of the game, but then let Werder equalize them and this game also ended 2:2 and both teams shared a point. Now on Matchday 2 all four teams will start with equal amount of points which will make this group pretty interesting.
White Hart Lane gets the first taste of the group stage of Champions League, and make no mistake, tonight Tottenham will have plenty of support. Knowing that it will be hard to win the EPL this years seems like Harry Redknapp and his boys have focused entirely on Champions League, since they lost to West Ham with 0:1, in a game where I didn’t see the Spurs putting effort or at least not as much as we are used to see them put.
Here are some interesting facts about the two teams:
*There have been just four goals scored in the last five meetings between Spurs and Dutch sides in European competition.
*FC Twente have never beaten an English side in European competition (excluding qualifiers), drawing three and losing four.
*Twente’s last trip to London came in the Champions League qualifiers in 2008-09 when they lost 0-4 to Spurs‘ rivals Arsenal after losing 0-2 at home.
*Spurs have only lost three out of 63 European ties (excluding qualifiers) at White Hart Lane.
*Twente have kept just one clean sheet in their last 18 European matches (excluding qualifiers).
The Betting Verdict?
Tottenham to win @ 1.90 (The highest odds on the net! Register at Betfair.com – 25£ bonus): Tottenham did surprisingly well away from home, but I am sure they will do even better at home. At home the Spurs just look like a different team, more concentrated, more creative. The odds seem great and although the game is more like a 3way game, I believe that 3 losses out of 63 games give us good probabilities for success tonight.
Be sure to place your sports bets as early as possible, so you can take advantage of the high odds.
