The opening evening of the Championship season sees only one match, with newly promoted Norwich taking on perennial strugglers Watford.
As Norwich have just won promotion from League One, they will have all the momentum going with them and will be full of enthusiasm.
This, combined with Watford’s loss of key players in the close season, should see Norwich having an advantage in this fixture.
Betfair have odds of 1.93 for this match and, especially if you can find closer to evens, is good odds.

On 7th August: Bristol City vs. Millwall.
Newly promoted Millwall will find their first Championship match a struggle, against a Bristol City side on a new wave of optimism after the appointment of Steve Coppell and the signings of players such as England Goalkeeper David James.
Together, they should have too much for Millwall, so long as Coppell enjoys something of a honeymoon period and doesn’t struggle to bed in. Personally, I was surprised to see the odds so near to evens for this result.

On 7th August: Charlton vs. Bournemouth.
Bournemouth have just come up from League 2 and ought to be put to the sword by a Charlton side, who, despite their financial problems, have far more quality and strength in depth throughout their squad than the rather depleted Cherries. Expect a home win.
