Good Morning Folks!

Day 2 of the Quarter Finals of Carling Cup, one on one will stand up the teams of Manchester City and Arsenal. Both team have played only once before for Carling Cup in 2004 and Arsenal has won with 1:2. I know it’s pretty pointless to go over the season statistic, because most managers come out with their substitute players and the game can go either way. However I did see how Arsenal played against Liverpool with their youngsters and I was impressed.

I do think they have a good chance to win today. They usually play strong in Carling Cup and are in the Top5 trophy winners with 4 trophies won. City on the other hand has no traditions in the Cup, but this year they have spent a lot for new strikers. According to the bookmakers and the odds for City, the victory is a sure thing for them, but I doubt it. My pick would be for an away victory for Arsenal. Final Score 3:0 wrong

The other game tonight from the Quarter Finals is Blackburn v Chelsea. Chelsea doing great this year, already first with the lead of 5 points in front of United. I seriously doubt they care about Carling Cup at all. My guess would be, that they will come out with every reserve player they got so they can build up playing time.Blackburn on the other hand is 13th so far, and they really have no chance achieving anything else this year but winning the Carling Cup.

I think they will go full power on home turf against Chelsea and look for the victory at all cost. Both teams have played once for Carling Cup and Chelsea has won it with 0:2. In the last 20 games both teams have tied 4 times, Chelsea has lost 2 and won the rest. My pick would be an away victory for Chelsea. Final Score 2:2 wrong

With that, I am done with Carling Cup, be ready for my Europa League analysis in few minutes.
