Hi Folks!
After few days of rest and almost no game to play, comes the weekend! You gotta love the weekends, interesting games, and many to choose from. As usual, I will review some of the more interesting ones in the Barclays premier league, and whatever else I find interesting in the other major European leagues!
First things are first, the most anticipated game today is probably Manchester United vs Aston Villa. Seems like an easy game to pick, a home win for United, since according to the statistic Villa doesn’t have anything but losses on Old Trafford since 2002. However I do find Villa to be in a better shape than any of those years. In the same time United has enough injured played to be in a weaker shape than usual. Actually when I look now closer, Villa has never beat United in the past 10 years and has tied 3 times. That’s a pretty wicked stat, but I will risk and go with the draw here. Anyways the home win odds aren’t worth playing! Final Score 0:1 What a win… Villa didn’t have one on Old Trafford for 26 years! Congratulations!
Nothing else from Premier league seems that interesting or worth playing taken the risk/win ration. However Championship offers a game with great odds, and big probability for success. The game is Barnsley v Newcastle. Newcastle are just unstoppable there. Already first with 7 points ahead of the 2nd team. They have played Barnsley twice for Carling Cup, and have won both times. I doubt they will have trouble doing it a third time, and will go home with the away victory. So my pick would be an away victory for Newcastle. Final Score 2:2 I guess today is the day of the draw games! So many of them, 6 out of 8 in Premier League!
Let’s take a look at Spain’s Primiera Division and the game between Valencia v Real Madrid. Valencia won at home earlier this year with 3:0, can they do it again? Real picked up the pace already and were close to the goal in the game with Barcelona. Looking over the statistic, as you might guess it favors Real Madrid, with a lot of home victories, but they seem to have a little trouble away, where Valencia has won twice in the past two years. I find both teams in a great shape this year. Valencia on the 3rd spot with 3pts left from Real, would sure want the victory. However it’s more important for both teams, not to loose. I would go for the draw here as well, although a home win, is also something I would play. Final Score 2:3 Sigh, it was going so well , and close for the draw, and in the final minutes bam, an away victory
I think those games are enough for discussion today. Make sure you check out my Daily picks as well, and compare what you are going to play, with what I think will happen.
