English Premier League Weekend Round

Just a day before Easter, another great round of Barclays Premier League coming up.

After the wonderful games of Champions League and Europa League during the week, let’s hope the weekend will offer us the same show.

So without wasting anymore time, let’s take a look at the games that are going to be played today.

I am pretty sure you all anticipate one of it very much.

Manchester United v Chelsea 03/04/2010 12:45 BST
Arsenal v Wolverhampton 03/04/2010 15:00 BST
Bolton v Aston Villa 03/04/2010 15:00 BST
Portsmouth v Blackburn 03/04/2010 15:00 BST
Stoke v Hull 03/04/2010 15:00 BST
Sunderland v Tottenham 03/04/2010 15:00 BST
Burnley v Manchester City 03/04/2010 17:30 BST

Saving the best game for the day, for last I will start with the 2nd games until the end, then come back for the “dessert”.

Arsenal v Wolverhampton: Five games between the two teams in all tournaments, 5 victories for Arsenal. Without question, the favorite here would be Arsenal. However you probably are aware of the injury problems that they have. Cesc Frabregas will miss this game for sure as probably Andrei Arshavin.

Arsenal with a home record of 13 wins 1 draw and 2 losses and 4 victories out of the last 4 home games. The Wolves have picked up the pace in the end of the season. If you have been following them closely you would see them made some brilliant games, beating away West Ham and tie Aston Villa and Everton.

Makes me wonder if they can get more out of this game, than everyone thinks. I think a draw is very possible here, odds @ 6.2 and are well worth the risk.

However if you are not into that much of a risk go with Over 2.5 Goals, since 4/5 of the direct games ended Over 2.5 Goals and 4/5 away games of the Wolves ended Over 2.5 Goals. Odds are @ 1.66 in Betfair.

So my prediction is Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.66 and / or a draw @ 6.2 , take whichever suits your strategy!

Bolton v Aston Villa: Quite a history between the two teams. The interesting thing is the last 4 visits for Villa ended as a tie. Bolton seems to be quite an obstacle, and who knows if they will be able to go through them today as well.

Bolton with a home record of 5 wins 5 draws and 6 losses has been inconsistent this year, but has improved a lot recently. Beating Wolverhampton and Wigan at home and West Ham away, have moved them far far way from the red zone, and it’s almost sure that they will be playing in Premiership next year.

Villa on the other hand is 3 points away from Liverpool and a game less and will need the victory here. However their recent games, were quite disappointing ,tying against Wolverhampton and Sunderland, then getting crushed by Chelsea with 7:1.

Both Team have played 10 games total in this format since 2000, 8 out of them have ended with both teams to score.

My prediction for this game would be “Both Teams To Score” @ 1.74 .

Portsmouth v Blackburn:A lot of past direct games between the two. However you are aware of the fact that the circumstances have now changed once Portsmouth have gone bankrupt.

Although standing strong against the mediocre teams at home, Portsmouth destiny for next year is very clear.

Looking at the stats both teams have ended Over 2.5 Goals 6 out of the 9 games. In addition, the last 4 out of 5 home games for Portsmouth have ended Over 2.5 Goals and the last 3 out of 5 away games for Blackburn have ended Over 2.5 Goals.

Thus my prediction for this game would be Over 2.5 Goals @ 2.02

Stoke v Hull: After 4 consecutive draws with the score of 1:1, both teams were able to beat each other once, with the score of 2:1 in 2009. While Stoke City are doing fine at home with a home record of 6 wins 5 draws and 5 losses, Hull with 0 wins 4 draws and 11 losses is still struggling to get an away victory.

They were so close against Portsmouth winning with 1:2 until the 89th minute and then they lost 3:2. A logical bet for this game would be a home victory @ 1.81 as well as “Both Teams To Score”

Since those past 4 draw games stress me a little I will go with “Both Teams To Score” @ 1.94

Sunderland v Tottenham: What seems to be an easy game to predict, if you take a look at the stats, it’s not so easy after all. Although Tottenham is in a great shape and needs the win here to keep distance and be safe on the 4th spot, they haven’t won a visit to Sunderland since 2001.

Yup, that’s 9 years and since then the Spurs have 2 draws and 2 losses. So to be honest I am not sure which way the game will go. Tottenham with the away record of 6 wins 5 draws and 4 losses against Sunderland’s home record of 7 victories 7 draws and 2 losses.

I am expecting a very open game however between the two teams and each will go for the goal. So my prediction would be Both Teams To Score @ 1.75 in Betfair.

Burnley v Manchester City: Another very interesting game of the day. Burnley standing very strong at home for a team in the red zone, with a record of 6 wins 5 draws and 5 losses. They still have a chance to play in Premiership next year, if they start winning and getting points.

Manchester City in the same time, must win, if they want to stay close to Tottenham, and in the same time far away from Liverpool. However the recent tie against Sunderland and the loss at home against Everton, have had their impact in the league standing. The victory here is a must, but if you can recall, the first game in Manchester ended 3:3.

What I expect from this game tonight? Well Burnley will go for the goal for sure. They have nothing to loose and they need points 3, or 1 it doesn’t matter as long as it’s a point it’s good for them. City will also go for the goal, looking for that desired victory in order to stay close to the 4th spot.

So my prediction would be Both Teams To Score @ 1.75 in Betfair.

Manchester United v Chelsea: The El Classico for England :) is on its way. It’s the first game today at 12:45 BST so be sure to watch it. United standing strong at home with 14 victories 1 draw and 1 loss, but looking at a very important home game on Wednesday against Bayern Munich. What does that mean?

Almost 100% sure that Wayne Rooney will be seated this game to rest, while Valencia, and Berbatov will probably be at the top of the attack. The problem? United is not the same team without Rooney, and has difficulties scoring when he is not on the field.

In the same time, Chelsea is very determined to win this one and get back at the top again, after getting eliminated in the Champions League. Recent scores of 7-1 against Aston Villa and 5:0 against Portsmouth, show that Chelsea can, and will score today.

After all this is like a match for the title, and whoever wins it (if any of the two teams) will have the better chance of winning the title this year. So my expectations for this game is to be very open and dramatic, resulting with Over 2.5 Goals on the field. Odds @ 2.28 in Betfair.
