The battle in Group A just got interesting. Both leaders Germany and Turkey will go against each other, after both teams won their first two games and gathered 6 points.
The last meeting between these two teams was in Euro 2008, where Germany won 3:2, in Basel. But since then, the German team has improved a lot or at least they showed so this year in World Cup 2010.
Germany easily beat their opponents so far Belgium with 1:0 away and Azerbaijan at home with 6:1. Turkey had no trouble against Kazakhstan winning 3:0, but faced problems against Belgium winning 3:2.
The Germans’ record against Turkey at home is as follows W4 D2 L1, and that loss was some 59 years ago. To be honest, both teams haven’t met that much in the past 10 years. Only one friendly game in 2005, where Turkey won with 2:1 at home, and then the game on Euro 2008 that I mentioned earlier.
Prediction?
