Europa League

Hello, to all gamblers, football fans, tipster and everyone else that has decided to visit me.

Just after the first leg from the quarter finals of the Champions League have passed it’s time for Europa League as well.

Although we had an incredibly interesting games on Tuesday and Wednesday, they were very “betting friendly” if you know what I mean.

Sure some of you might have gotten them right, but the games were wild and you couldn’t see the final result until the very end.

Let’s hope for the same spectacular games today, but this time a little bit more predictable for gambler’s sake.

So here’s what we have for today from the 1st leg of the quarter final in Europa League:

Valencia v Atletico Madrid 01/04/2010 20:05 BST
Benfica v Liverpool 01/04/2010 20:05 BST
Hamburger SV v Standard Liege 01/04/2010 20:05 BST
Fulham v Wolfsburg 01/04/2010 20:05 BST

Valencia v Atletico Madrid: The Spanish derby, that many are anticipating tonight. Both teams were able to advance to this stage of the tournament after two consecutive draws, but with more goals away.

Valencia lost they last game in LIGA BBVA with 0:3 to Zaragoza, which makes me think they are totally focused and concentrated on this game today. In the same time in the Madrid derby, Atletico was able to lead 0:2 versus Real, but lost 3:2 at the end.

What do I expect from this game? Well both teams know each other so well, that I think they will go for the goal from the first minute instead of trying to “explore” each other. As a typical Spanish battle, I expect a lot of goals, this is why “Both Teams To Score” seems like the best bet here @ 1.65 in Betfair.

Looking over the stats out of 10 home games Valencia has won 6, tied 3 and lost only 1. A lot of you might go for the home win, which is also logical, @ 1.88 in Betfair.

Another bet that seems both logical and good for play here by all gamblers is Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.70 in Betfair. 5 out of the 10 games have ended Over 2.5 goals, 3 of which are the most recent games, which makes me think both teams will do the same tonight.

Overall all 3 bets seem good for your betting slip, but again, I stand behind my first choice “Both Teams To Score” and this is what I am putting down tonight.

Benfica v Liverpool: Very interesting match to be honest. Both teams have met only ones in the Champions League where Benfica, took both games, winning at home 1:0 and winning in England with 0:2.

Having in mind that Liverpool is not anywhere near their finest shape, I am expecting the visitors to struggle tonight. To be honest Liverpool has been very very disappointing in the away games this year. They lost the first game against Lille in France, and believe me, Benfica are way stronger than Lille this year.

My prediction would be a home victory for the team from Portugal, based on their great home performance, as well as their top shape and quite well performance in the tournaments this year. Odds @ 2.54 and although Liverpool is never to be underestimated, I am sure all of you are tired like me waiting for them to “wake up”.

Hamburger SV v Standard Liege: The favorite for winning this tournament versus the underdogs. David versus Goliath is what can be said about this game. The Belgium wall, as they call them now, have made quite a surprise this year. After not being able to get out of the Champions League groups around teams like Arsenal and Olympiakos the team finished 3rd and joined Europa League.

They eliminated the undefeated until then team of Redbull Salzburg, and eliminated later on Panathinaikos, the team that took AC Roma out of the tournament. Knowing this, you better not underestimate the potential of this team, and what it can do, if not taken seriously.

Hamburger has the ambition to play on the final this year, because it will be on their stadium. If they are planning on winning the tournament, they have to send a message tonight with a well played game and a tremendous victory.

Because of the unfamiliarity between the two teams, I can’t really find any other logical bets but a home victory for Hamburger @ 1.55 in Betfair.

Fulham v Wolfsburg: Back from the “dead” comes Fulham, which before Juventus’ visit in England was considered already eliminated and gone. However Fulham showed character, proving that 3:1 is nothing to be afraid of and winning at home with 4:1.

Knowing their abilities away, I am sure the English will try to score as much as they can tonight. Not to mention the fact that their opponent Wolfsburg is having difficulties playing away from home.

And with Villarreal and with Rubin Kazan, Wolfsburg was able to tie the game when visiting, and they pretty much crush their opponent in front of home crowd. A home victory for Fulham is a logical bet here, @ 2.24 in Betfair.

Looking over the stats, “Both Teams to Score” seems even better, but the odds are much lower @ 1.70 in Betfair.

Anyways I will stick with it, and go with “Both Teams To Score” tonight.
