Bet on Premier League with Bet365.com

The first Merseyside derby of the season is the early kick-off in the Premier League on Saturday. Liverpool travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton in what should be a good competitive contest. Both teams are in the top half of the table, with Liverpool up in 5th after taking 10 points from six games and Everton down in 9th with seven from five.

Liverpool are favourites in the match odds at 16/11 with Unibet while an Everton win is 9/5 and a draw at 9/4.

After two losses on the bounce in the Premier League, Liverpool got back on track with a 2-1 win against Wolves last weekend. It wasn’t wholly convincing from Kenny Dalglish’s side and after they took the lead in the first half they had to hold off a Wolves fightback in the second. Craig Bellamy had been impressive against Brighton in the Carling Cup but was left out of the side in favour of Andy Carroll. The record signing failed to impose himself on a game once again and had a fruitless afternoon. It will be interesting to see if the manger goes with the striker for such an important game as the Merseyside derby.

Liverpool should have really saw out the game more comfortably and in the closing stages Wolves had a number of chances. Dalglish will need a big performance from his team if they are to take anything from Goodison Park on Saturday.

Everton may have lost 2-0 to Man City last weekend but they put in a very solid performance and looked as if they could have earned a point from the game. They were organised at the back and frustrated Roberto Mancini’s side for long periods of the game. Everton’s lack of firepower upfront let them down when it came trying to do something on the break.

Substitute Mario Balotelli finally made the breakthrough for City in the 68th and this seemed to unsettle Everton who then conceded another goal to James Milner with two minutes remaining. Yet David Moyes will have taken some encouragement from his team’s performance as they made City fight extremely hard for their win.

In the betting for Saturday, it looks as if it will be a very close game between these two rivals and it is a tough one to call. Liverpool have won just one away game in the Premier League and lost two this season so one cannot have too much confidence in them picking up all three points on their travels. Everton, meanwhile, have been improving since the start of the season and the team is looking like a decent unit. However, they still don’t have a recognised striker who can start and lead the line.

There is not much between both sides at the moment and they should cancel each other out on Saturday. The draw at 9/4 with Unibet is a good wager with a low scoring affair the likely outcome.
