Everton v Stoke: Potters struggle badly after Europa League ties

Match Preview

Everton host Stoke City at Goodison Park in the Premier League this Sunday and the home side are odds-on favourites for the win. Unibet offer Everton at 7/10 while a Stoke victory is a big price of 4/1 and a draw offered at 5/2.

The Toffees have climbed their way back up the table in recent weeks and they are now sitting in 9th after spending the first quarter of the season in the lower end of the table.

David Moyes will be pleased that his side are starting to show some consistency and are picking up results. Everton are coming off the back of two wins in the league, a 2-1 home win over Wolves a couple of weeks ago and a 2-0 away win to Bolton just last weekend. Everton looked strong in both games, solid at the back and controlling possession in midfield. It will also delight the manager that his strikers are starting to find the back of the net. Both Fellaini and Vellios got on the scoresheet at the Reebok to get the victory over Bolton.

Moyes will need these two to step up with some goals if Everton are to stay in the top-half of the table. The Toffees are seriously lacking firepower up front and Saha cannot be counted upon because of his injury concerns. Fellaini is a good price of 10/1 to score first on Sunday, while Vellios is 2/1 to score anytime in the match and Moyes just might start him after his goal from the substitutes bench at Bolton.

Stoke may have enjoyed gaining qualification to the last-32 of the Europa League on Thursday night, but their Premier League form has been poor. They did win last weekend over a struggling Blackburn side at home, but they had previously lost four-in-row before that.

Prediction

Tony Pulis’ side have struggled badly to manage their European campaign with their domestic commitments so far this season. They have played four group games in the Europa League and lost every league fixture right after that. After another tiring European test against Dynamo Kiev on Thursday, Stoke look like they might not put up too much off a fight at Goodison Park and Everton should be backed for the win at 7/10 with Unibet.

Another bet for Sunday’s game is to back both teams not to score at 5/6 with Unibet. Stoke have scored just two goals in their last five league away matches.
