After a 2:2 in Italy, the Swiss team FC Thun has a real shot at the groups of Europa League. Palermo needs a victory here in order to continue or a draw (3:3 or more)

FC Thun finished 5th last year in the Swiss Super League and got a quota for Europa League from Qualifying Round 2. In that round they met the tough Albanian team, Vllaznia and the first game where Vllaznia hosted, ended 0:0. In the second game in Switzerland FC Thun hardly won with 2:1, but it was enough for the team to advance to the Qualifying Round 3. The first game against Palermo in Italy ended 2:2, and with 2 away goals, FC Thun is now a step closer to the groups of Europa League. The Swiss’s best achievement was in season 2005/06 where they got in the Champions League Groups and achieved even a victory and a draw against Sparta Praha.
Palermo
Palermo finished 8th last season in Serie A, nothing incredible, but the team played a Coppa Italia Final, against Inter losing it with 3:1. Due to the fact that Inter has already qualified for Champions League Group Stage, the Europa League spot was give to the Runner-up, hence Palermo. After falling behind with 0:1 in the first game, Palermo was able to reverse the match to 2:1, but a defending mistake lead to the equalizer and now Palermo needs a victory here. Of course a 2:2 draw for extra time, or 3:3 for a goal away advantage is also an option.
Prediction
Having watched the highlights of the first game, seems like Palermo is the better team, but the many holes in defense, played them a bad joke. Now they have the uncomfortable position of being the visiting team and will need an early goal for sure. FC Thun also had their chances, and will most likely look for that fast goal as well, to kill early in the game Palermo’s ambitions.
Palermo is appointed for a favorite here with the odds for victory at 2.20 (bet365), while FC Thun’s odds are a bit short at 3.20 (bet365.). Taking into consideration the score of the first game, and the odds for a draw @ 3.40 (bet365) this seems like the valuable bet.
Bottom line, I expect goals in this game. Why? Palermo must net at least one, and hope for a clean net to advance. Without doubt FC Thun anticipates that, and they will try to score at least a goal early in the game as well. Remember only a 2:2 or 3:3 or more gives Palermo chance for extra time, or direct advance. Both teams do not have very good defenses therefore my prediction is Over 2.5 Goals.
