Have you heard of the term shadow boxing?
If you haven’t don’t worry, in common English it’s called practice.
Gambling like every other task, requires practice. Practice without the pressure of losing, without the pressure of being right.
A common mistake for all novice gamblers and even tipsters is that they start wagering real money, before practicing.
Let’s face it, before a football game, the players practice for weeks even months, to perfect their style, to clear all possible flaws. Everything is done in a calm atmosphere, where there’s no pressure. This way you get to learn from your mistakes, and soon rational decisions become a habit, and you are able to execute them even under pressure, hence when money are involved, when it comes to football betting and gambling in general.
You probably have seen me talk about the Forex/Stock market. You have probably seen me mention the similarities that forex brokers share with football gamblers. Well most forex platforms offer virtual accounts, something that bookmakers still don’t do, but might come in handy. The reason they give you a virtual account is to P R A C T I C E. Using virtual money, you can test out strategies, limits, your skills in general and learn from your mistakes, without worrying about money. Once you are confident that you can start playing with real money, you can proceed and open a real account.
If that’s a necessary step for most forex players, why football betting should be any different? Yup, before getting involved with real money, start “shadow betting” or betting on paper. Setup an imaginary account funds on a piece of paper, bet on a paper according to your system and style. Compare your results week after week, month after month, and perfect your gambling strategy.
If you can’t get a profit on paper, what makes you think you will be able to profit once playing with real money? Better yet, the chances are that you will do even worse for real, worrying affects your betting performance in general. Once you are confident enough, you are ready to start aiming higher, like playing with real money, and becoming a successful gambler.
How do I know if I am ready? If you have to ask yourself this question, you are NOT ready.
I hope you get the point by now, and you will take my words seriously and spend quality time practicing first, and then rush to register on any of the bookmakers or markets you have chosen. Good luck and remember, practice makes perfect.
