Great first day, and awesome games last night.
Arsenal totally crushed Porto, as they have done two years in a row.
Porto still remains with 0 goals on English turf against Arsenal, and the memory after that 5:0 will hunt them for a long time.
In the other game Fiorentina started quite well leading 2:0, and just when everything was looking good Bayern showed courage and motivation and took theirs.
Even though the German team lost with 3:2, that one extra goal away helped them advance. See this is the reason why I suggested you guys go with a safe bet like “Both Teams To Score”.
Predicting the outcome of the game was a little bit hard, because a win wasn’t necessary for Bayern to move on . The games today are actually even more interesting.
I am pretty sure a lot of gamblers out there are waiting on Real and United tonight:
Real Madrid v Lyon 10/03/2010 19:45 GMT
Manchester United v AC Milan 10/03/2010 19:45 GMT
Real Madrid v Lyon: As expected and based on the stats, Lyon got theirs in France. Winning for a 3rd consecutive time, they are one step closer to advancing in the next round of Champions League.
However let’s look over the game from another point of view: financial. Did you know that the Final of the Champions League will be played on Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Yup that’s correct. On the same stadium where this game will be played tomorrow will be played the final. A lot more souvenirs and tickets will be sold if Real actually is on the final don’t you think?
Obviously the fans also have their hopes sky-high because of the new players the club got this season.
Real is going against history and stats tonight. Twice in a row the team of Lyon was able to get a draw on Bernabeu and eliminate them. The question is, can they do it again, even with stars like Ronaldo and Kaka in the team.
Bad news for all football bettors are the low odds for a home win, 1.33 @ Betfair.com just doesn’t seem good enough. So let’s look for somewhat safe bet, yet profitable. By looking at all of the bets seems like Under 3.5 Goals @ 1.6 is quite a good bargain. I will definitely go with it.
If you feel like Real will struggle tonight and Lyon will be just looking to kill the speed of the game and end up tied, you can even go with Under 2.5 Goals odds of 2.6 @ Betfair.com.
Anyways, bottom line here is to stay away from the probable outcome since it can go either way, and the risk/reward ration for a Real win isn’t worth it as well.
Manchester United v AC Milan: A lot of unknowns in this game for several reasons. Supposedly Rooney has a knee injury and will miss this game, or that’s what Sir Alex Ferguson wants us to think. Personally I think he realizes how important Rooney is for the overall shape of the team and wouldn’t want to experiment on such an important game with Milan.
After a great first game with a dramatic turn over from 1:0 to 1:3 and at the end 2:3 United has a comfortable lead, and even with a loss of 1:2 would advance ahead. May be this is why a lot of tipsters and bookmakers are thinking they are not going to try as hard as they did in Italy.
Knowing Ferguson and his Scottish character, I very much doubt that. Looking over the stats, seems like United has a win and a loss on Old Trafford some years ago.
Bottom line is, if they play like they played in Italy, the victory is definitely theirs.
My prediction would be a home victory for Manchester United, odds of 1.75 @ Betfair.com. If you are scared that the game can go either way, go with Over 2.5 Goals odds of 1.91 @ Betfair.com and you know these two teams always go wide open on each other.
Thank you for reading once again, good luck betting tonight!
