English Premier League Weekend Round

An upcoming weekend that would offer us some serious game for betting and some wonderful games to watch.

Here is what we can enjoy on Saturday the 27th:

Chelsea v Manchester City 27/02/2010 12:45 GMT

Bolton v Wolverhampton 27/02/2010 15:00 GMT
Burnley v Portsmouth 27/02/2010 15:00 GMT
Birmingham v Wigan 27/02/2010 15:00 GMT

Stoke v Arsenal 27/02/2010 17:30 GMT

Without having to waste a lot of time, let’s focus on what can probably be called the game of the day: Chelsea v Manchester City .Looking over the statistics since year 2000 Manchester City has only one draw game on Stamford Bridge, and everything else is losses. Some of those losses are pretty embarrassing like the one in 2003 and 2007, 5:0 and 6:0.

When it comes to home games Chelsea is on top of the game with 12 wins 1 draw and 0 losses. Manchester City is currently 5th also with 0 losses at home, but their away record 3 wins 6 draws and 4 losses seems to be the problem. Horrible performance resulting in 2 losses and 1 tie in the last 3 away games.

Without doubt my prediction would be a home victory for Chelsea, odds @ 1.51 in Betfair.com

Bolton v Wolverhampton: Two teams in and near the red zone, just a point apart. Three visits for the team of Wolverhampton a while ago in 2000 and 2003, two losses and a tie.

Current shapes of the teams as you can see are not great, and probably one if not both teams will not be playing in the Premiership next year. Bolton with a home record of 3 wins 5 draws and 5 losses can’t be really proud of anything here and Wolverhampton with an away record of 2 wins 3 draws and 7 losses seems quite desperate as well.

Usually the teams that make it out of the red zone, depend on home victories, but with identical home record with 2 more victories Wolverhampton is clearly going downhill.

One away game only in the past 10 for Wolverhampton which they lost, with 1-2 against Birmingham, after scoring first and getting 2 goals in the 80th and 85 minute.
It was a perfect game for that Turn-Around system I have written in the article section.

My prediction for this game would be a home victory for Bolton, odds @ 2.06 in Betfair.com – the highest you can get around now days.

Burnley v Portsmouth: Both teams are taking the last spots in the table, and while Burnley still has a chance to move away from the red zone, it’s almost clear that Portsmouth will leave the Premiership.

Actually Portsmouth are the only team now allowed to sell players outside the transfer window to try to avoid going bankrupt. Away record of 1 win 2 draws and 10 losses. Burnley as a newcomer is doing so well at home, with a record of 6 victories 4 draws and only 2 losses, but it’s their away games that are killing them, 0 wins so far away only one draw and 13 losses.

This is why, this home game is so important, 22 out of their 23 points come from home games. My predictions would be a home victory for Burnley, odds of 2.30 @ Betfair.com.

Birmingham v Wigan: Birmingham was taking the 8th spot earlier in the season, but has started to show questionable performances away from home. While they were able to get a point from the games at home with United and Tottenham, and win over Wolverhampton, they lost away against Fulham,West Ham, and Chelsea.

Wigan with 1 win 1 draw and 1 loss in their last 3 away games, need the points as well to move up further from the red zone. An away record of 2 wins 3 draws and 8 losses however is something they need to work on.

Birmingham are know for being tough at home, and having a strong defense. However they seem to have lack of attack power and often draw the games where they could have easily won. My predictions for this game would a draw, odds of 3.45 @ Betfair.com

Stoke v Arsenal: Seems like when Arsenal is visiting Stoke, they tend to loose. Although their most recent loss was for the FA Cup, it’s still memorable, and they do have a Premier League game from 2 years ago, where they lost 2:1.

Stoke’s home record is 6 wins 4 draws and 3 losses , against Arsenal’s away record 6 wins 3 draws and 4 losses, so as you can see there would be quite a battle here ,at least in my opinion.

Arsenal has lost their visit for the Champions League, and on the 9th will have to go full power at home. This makes me think they would save some of the starters.
My prediction a home victory for Stoke City, although it’s a little bit wild I think it’s worth risking, odds of 5.50 @ Betfair.com

Thanks for reading and good luck with your bets on Saturday.
