Finally a weekend round of English Premier League! It’s a beautiful Saturday morning, sunny and somewhat warm for this time of the year.
After the disappointment from the Europa League, where teams like Roma, Ajax and Red Bull Salzburg where leading, the last 2 even in half-time, lost their games.
But hey, it’s football, it’s a ball everything happens.
Let’s look at the games that we will be able to see today:
Everton v Manchester United 20/02/2010 12:45 GMT
West Ham v Hull 20/02/2010 15:00 GMT 1.727
Arsenal v Sunderland 20/02/2010 15:00 GMT
Wolverhampton v Chelsea 20/02/2010 15:00 GMT
Portsmouth v Stoke 20/02/2010 17:30 GMT
Everton v Manchester United: Definitely one of the more interesting games today. Everton has done some really great home games against Chelsea winning 2:1 and against Manchester City winning with 2:0. Home record of 6 wins 5 draws and only 2 losses.
United going strong this year has an away record of 7 wins 2 draws and 4 losses. Their last 3 away games ended up as 2 draw games and a victory. Everton on the other hand has 4 wins from 4 home games in the past rounds.
Beating Chelsea will definitely give Everton the self-esteem to go for the win today. I am willing to go here with the better odds, and a home victory for Everton.
West Ham v Hull: West Ham with the home record of 4 wins 4 draw games and 4 losses, showing an improvement in their shape. Their last four games ended as 2 victories and 2 draw games. Looks like they have picked up the pace, and although they are on the 15th place they are just a point away from the teams in the red zone.
Hull taking the 17th spot, with an away record of 0 wins 4 draws and 9 losses has a lot of difficulties as you can see playing away. They mostly depend on home games, where most of their points came from.
My prediction for this game would be a draw game.
Arsenal v Sunderland: Although the stats show advantage of Arsenal, lately Sunderland seems to have made their life difficult. They were able to beat them at home with the score of 1:0 and were able to get a point with 0:0 on Emirates in early 2009.
Arsenal with a home record of 10 wins 1 draw and 2 losses is standing strong. That draw game came from Everton recently as well as the losses from Chelsea and Manchester United. Sunderland with an away record of 1 win, 3 draw games and 9 losses, seems to depend on home games as many teams in the lower half of the table.
My prediction would be home win for Arsenal, but the odds are so low I wouldn’t even consider them.
Wolverhampton v Chelsea: Three games between these two teams, all finished bad for Wolverhampton. Three losses with the score of 4:0, 5:2 and 0:5. Wolverhampton with a home record of 4wins 3draws and 6 losses is going against Chelsea with an away record of 6 wins 3 draws and 4 losses.
Drogba and company have to keep winning, because United is just a point away behind them. Without doubt my prediction would be an away victory for Chelsea, but I would again not consider them in my betting slip because of the low odds.
Portsmouth v Stoke: Portsmouth probably the team that will leave Premiership for sure, has only 16 points and a home record of 3 wins 2 draws and 7 losses. Stoke City, with 1 wins 6 draws and 5 losses as an away record.
Portsmouth going through financial crisis would be looking for any point they can get in order to stay in Premiership. Their last home games against Hull and Sunderland ended 1:1. However against Stoke, from 3 homes games they have 3 wins.
My prediction would be a home victory today, even though the team has so many problems.
