English Premier League Weekend Round

Another weekend, another round of Barclays Premier League! Anticipated by a lot of sports bettors will be few interesting games today:

Liverpool v Everton 06/02/2010 12:45 GMT
Manchester United v Portsmouth 06/02/2010 15:00 GMT
Stoke v Blackburn 06/02/2010 15:00 GMT
Sunderland v Wigan 06/02/2010 15:00 GMT
Burnley v West Ham 06/02/2010 15:00 GMT
Bolton v Fulham 06/02/2010 15:00 GMT
Hull v Manchester City 06/02/2010 15:00 GMT
Tottenham v Aston Villa 06/02/2010 17:30 GMT

Liverpool v Everton: An interesting game, mostly because of the unstable performance of Liverpool. Both teams have long history, and clearly Liverpool dominates over Everton when playing at home. However some of the recent games have finished 1:1 and with Liverpool’s disappointing results recently I am leaning for a surprise today as well.

Everton has really done great in the past 6-7 rounds. Took a point from Arsenal when visiting, and won over City at home. They are definitely going to put up a fight today. Although the game can go either way, I will go with the stats and that Everton has not won as a guest over 10 years.

My prediction would be a draw games @ 3.55 in Betfair.com

Manchester United v Portsmouth: Nothing really that I can say about this game. If you follow my blog, you know I am more of a risk taker, but not in this game. Although the odds of 10.00 for a draw and 34.00 for an away win are very very tempting, I do not see this game going any other way but a home win for Man United.

Stoke v Blackburn: These teams have played against each other only 3 times, each got a victory and a tie. Both teams are two points apart in the table, and have similar records.

With an away record of 1 win 3 draws and 8 losses, Blackburn is one of the teams with the worst away status. Stoke might not be the best host, but 5 wins 3 draws and 3 losses are not that bad either. Recently the team tied Liverpool at home and won over Arsenal for FA Cup with 3:1.

My prediction would be a home victory for Stoke City.

Sunderland v Wigan: A lot of games between the two, wins favor Wigan! Looking over the past few visits of Wigan, seems logical to look for the away victory here. Wigan has lost 3 out of the last 5 visits and Sunderland has tied 3 and lost 1 in the last 4 home games.

My prediction for this match will be an away victory for Wigan, based on their past recent victories over Sunderland.

Burnley v West Ham: Five games in total between the two teams. Two in premiership and 3 in championship. Two old ties between the two team, followed by 3 wins from West Ham. Burnley playing strong at home, but horribly away and still has no win as a guest. They count on home games to make it out of the red zone.

West Ham is a little bit above the red zone, and doesn’t do well when visiting. An away record of 1 win 5 draw matches and 6 losses speaks for itself. My prediction for this game is home win for Burnley.

Bolton v Fulham: The team of Bolton with equal points with the top team in the red zone Hull City. They need points to move as far as possible from there if they want to be playing next year in Premiership.

Fulham plays strong at home but has trouble when visiting. Out of they 4 visits recently they have lost all 4 games. Bolton has few ties against teams of the rank of Fulham, and I am thinking this will happen today as well. My prediction a draw game.

Hull v Manchester City: Three matches between them total. Two ties and a great victory for City with 5:1. Hull needs every point they can get to move out of that red zone. The tie against Chelsea last round sure, gave them hopes for achieving that.

City is playing well at home, but is struggling away. The loss from Fulham with 2-0 showed us exactly that. A possible draw will not be so bad as a start of improvement for both teams. My predictions would be a draw game.

Tottenham v Aston Villa: One of the most anticipated games for today.Direct battle for the 4th spot, depending on the outcome of the other games today. Both teams would want the victory, and the draw will hurt both as well.

Tottenham facing a lot of injured players, and had a hard time beating Leeds for the FA cup, earlier this week. I am curious what will be the start up team, but it will probably include reserved players. I think Villa will be able to get what they want here, the three points having a solid defense, and good counter attack. From what I could see from Leeds game Tottenham is currently having problem with defense, when under pressure.

My predictions, an away victory for Aston Villa.

That’s about it for today’s games from English Premier League. Good luck betting today, hope you have chosen your games carefully and thank you for reading.
