A game from the lower division of Bundesliga, Bundesliga2 between FSV Frankfurt and Arminia Bielefeld.

The visitor at one point last year where doing quite well taking up the 1st spot in the league, but then everything turned upside down. Due to licensing irregularities the DFL deducted four points from Arminia Bielefeld and at the end of the season they finished 7th with 49 points.

Frankfurt was also in Bundesliga 2 last year, where they hardly made it out of the red zone, and where only 2 points away from the third team from the bottom. If you happen to be that third team you play 2nd Bundesliga relegation play-offs. Frankfurt barely missed those, and luckily are still here.

Both teams met twice last year, first game in Frankfurt ended 0:0, and the second 2:1 for Bielefeld. The visitors played only two warm-up friendlies this year, lost them both, and advanced with penalties in their most recent game for the German cup.

Frankfurt has no problems beating Paderborn in the German Cup with 2:0, and also had 5 friendly warm up games before the season. Won 3 and lost 2, but they seem to be in a pretty good shape overall.

What to expect from the match?

Being the first game of the season and everything, this game can go either way. I expect Frankfurt to be the team in the better shape, after having 6 games to warm up, and won 4 of those 6. Bielefield on the other hand had only 3, lost 2 and hardly won the last one with penalties, which shows that they are stills struggling.

The Betting Verdict?

Backing Under 2.5 Goals @ 1.83 (Betfair.com): Given the score of the previous game in Frankfurt, and that this is the first game of the season, where both teams will try more not to loose than to win, I expect few goals in the game. The odds seem well worth it, for the amount of risk involved in this bet.
