Samuel Eto’o becomes the world’s highest paid football player, after signing a contract with the Russian Anzhi Makhachkala
Eto’o will be having a salary of £345,000 PER week AFTER tax. That comes to a total of £1,380,000 per month and that’s all with paid taxes and everything. The transfer fee was £22m and Inter will now have to find a replacement for the Cameroonian striker.
If you are wondering how does Anzhi has such money for such transfer, wonder no more as their owner is 45 years old Suleyman Kerimov, who’s 118th richest man in the world with total net worth of $7.8 billion. Anzhi Makhachkala’s squad already has other famous names like Yuri Zhirkov and Roberto Carlos.
What’s troublesome with this transfer is that Samuel Eto’o is black, and the Russian fans seem to be quite racist. Roberto Carlos ran into a lot of frustration and anger when bananas were thrown at him during games last season. Here’s a video of him, leaving the field :
It’s really sad and shameful when you see such scenes as Carlos is the role model for every defender out there, and his free kicks were inspiration to many football players. Now that Eto’o is on the team can these sarcastic gestures get more frequent?
The Cameroonian will arrive on Thursday August 25th 2011, and will start preparing with the squad for the game against Rostov.Unibet has the odds for the game already, pricing Anzhi to win at 1.80. To learn more about Unibet, visit the Unibet’s Review Section.
