One of the games everyone is anticipating in Group F.
The current World Cup holder, Italy is playing versus their strongest competitor in this group Paraguay.
Marcello Lippi is going to trust on 9 of the players who tasted the victory back in 2006 in Germany. He was criticized by the fans that his line is too old, but he calmed them down tell them it’s only for a month.
Whether he made the right decision we are about to see. I remember Lippi from his years in Juventus and I have a great respect for him. I have no doubt he knows what he is doing.
In the same time Paraguay are coming out with their new “weapon” Lucas Barrios. The Argentinian Borrusia Dortmund forward, who only recently acquired a Paraguayan passport will take the place of the the star striker Salvador Cabanas, who was shot earlier this year, and it’s still recovering.
So what will happen this game and which bets we should look at?
By tradition the Squadra Azzurra starts these types of tournaments slowly, without a lot of goals. In fact few time they have been close to not making it out of the groups, but then they pick up the pace in the more important games in the elimination rounds.
A possible victory is rated @ 2.20 (Bet365.com) and there’s a very good reason for those high odds. If you however feel confident that Italy will start well this year from the very beginning feel free to take this bet.
With the risk to repeat myself I find that your safe bet here will be the Under 2.5 Goals bet @ 1.45 (Bet365.com) especially when Italy is involved.
Personally I think both teams will try to play on the safe side here, which might lead to less attacks and goals in general. Eventually opportunities will come up, but will they be able to convert them into goals?
Prediction: “Half-time – Draw” Odds: 1.90 Bookmaker: Bet365.com
