We're continuing our exploration of the European League of Legends with a look at LEC Winter 2025. In case you've forgotten, it's the first of three European professional league splits that will give away a slot in the First Stand tournament, a new international event featuring top teams from several regions, including the LEC.
Let's talk about the second week of LEC Winter 2025, the first day of which will be closed by Karmine Corp and SK Gaming. The match will take place on the 25th of January at 21:00 CET.
Let's try to figure out which of the Karmine Corp - SK Gaming pair will be stronger.
SK Gaming form
We open the SK vs Karmine Corp match with an analysis of SK Gaming form. In this match they play in the status of favourite with odds to win at around 1.5.
The main achievement of SK Gaming for the season before last was the debut winter LEC split. The team, being among the outsiders and previously ranked top 8 at LEC Spring and LEC Summer, managed not only to make it to the play-offs, but also to put up a serious fight against MAD Lions in the match for the top 3.
What followed was much worse. At LEC Spring 2023 SK Gaming were not so confident. This time they managed to pass the regular season and bo1 matches, but not the group stage. SK fell in the top 7.

At LEC Summer 2023 SK Gaming almost repeated the spring result, with a slight improvement. They took the top 6, but thanks to the top 4 at LEC Winter 2023 they still made it to the regional finals.
However, SK Gaming's achievements ended at the LEC 2023 finals. There they played the only match against BDS and lost 0-3 without a chance.
SK Gaming passed the group stage of LEC Winter 2024 quite well. The team played the regular season with the score 5-4.
In the first round of play-offs SK Gaming met Vitality. After a disgusting season Vitality cameback, and so that they managed to reach the second round of the upper grid, and SK Gaming went to the lower grid. There, they faced Team Heretics in the first round and proved to be stronger, despite being nominal outsiders. However, SK Gaming's way out of the LEC Winter 2024 play-offs ended with a second round play-offs match against Fnatic.
LEC Spring 2024 play-offs were reached by chance and thanks to character. To get to the main stage they had to win a tiebreaker against Rogue. In the first match of the play-offs SK gave a good fight to Vitality, taking away their card, but unfortunately for them it didn't help them to win. Similar situation was in the match against Heretics, which led SK Gaming to the top 8.
SK Gaming finished the LEC Summer 2024 regular season in 1st place with a score of 8-1. At the Long Cognega play-offs LEC Summer 2024 defeated Heretics with a 2-0 win. Next was a match against Fnatic, where SK Gaming led 0-2. And in the next game they unexpectedly lost to Karmine Corp with the score 1-2.
At the LEC Regional Finals 2024, Long Sogpeg started from the bottom of the grid. They didn't get very far there, finishing in the top 6.
The opening match at LEC Winter 2025 for SK Gaming will be a match against GiantX. Next up was a match against Heretics. They will close the week with a match against G2 Esports.
SK Gaming's most popular champions
The top SK Gaming picks were Gnar (2 games, 1 win), KSante (1 game, 0 wins), Camile (1 game, 1 win), Sion (1 game, 1 win), Renekton (1 game, 1 win).
Sejuani and Eliza are honoured in the forest. Both champions have appeared twice each and won both matches, but Vi and Kindred have lost their games.
The centre line performs on Sylas (2 matches, 50% wins), Kassadin (1 time, 0 wins), Azir, Syndra and Akali (1 game each and 100% wins).
From shooters - Zeri. The character appeared 3 times and won 2 matches, besides Varus (who lost the only match), Sivir and Lucian.
Karma, who has had enough of Karma, as well as Renata Glasc and Lulu. Yummi won two matches out of 3, Karma lost the only game, and Renata Glasc and Lulu won.
Karmine Corp's form
We continue the analysis of the match Karmine Corp - SK Gaming with the analysis of Karmine Corp's form. In this match they play as an outsider with odds to win at around 2.8.
Despite its great popularity in Europe, Karmine Corp is an absolute newcomer to the LEC league. The French team has previously played on the local scene, competing against compatriots, as well as playing in various TIR-2 events within the LEC ecosystem.
For 2023, the teami has a very strong record with appearances in 4 tournaments. For professional teams in League of Legends, this is significant, as most of them play exclusively in a single league.
Karmine Corp started with LFL Spring 2023 and started off horribly. At the local league the team played 7-11 in the group stage, which was not even enough to qualify for the play-offs.
Things improved dramatically from there and Karmine Corp lifted the championship trophy over their heads twice in a row. The first time at LFL Summer 2023 and the second time at EMEA Masters Summer 2023. Incidentally, Masters Karmine Corp have won 4 times in the team's history and that is a significant statistic.
The last tournament of last season was the Coup De France 2024 championship. Either there was no priority for the event, or they were not in shape at all, but KC took the top 8 there.

Karmine Corp became a member of LEC through the purchase of a slot from Astralis. The Danish club, which did not achieve results last season, decided to sell its place in the prestigious league. Whether they did the right thing - we will find out later.
In the first match of LEC Winter 2024 Karmine Corp will play against Fnatic. In that match I believe in the victory of Karmine. After that - the game against G2 Esports and there Karmine Corp will be much more difficult. However, with Fnatic everything turned out to be the opposite: KC won, and with G2 Esports - everything is logical, an easy victory for the "samurai".
Karmine Corp officially became the worst team of LEC Winter 2024 ahead of time. Before Long Sogpeg of their last match in the regular season, KC have a stat line of 1-7, with their only win coming in week 3 against SK Gaming. The only treat was the prestige point that Karmine Corp got in their last group stage match.
At LEC Spring 2024, Karmine Corp repeated their "success" of the winter split. That is, they again took the last line, and with the identical result of 2 wins and 7 losses.
At the LEC Summer 2024 Playoffs, they made it to the LEC Summer 2024 Playoffs from 5th place with a score of 4-5. They debuted in the play-offs with a match against G2 Esports, where they lost 0-2. Karmine Corp rather unexpectedly ran over MAD Lions KOI in the first round of the lower bracket, shutting out the more titled opponent 2-0. Next, they won again and again over a more titled opponent in the form of SK Gaming. In the end, they managed to reach the top 4, but then the fuse was not enough and BDS knocked Karmine Corp out of the tournament.
At LEC Winter 2025 they will debut with a match against G2 Esports. Later they will play against KOI. They will close out the first week with a game against GiantX.

The most popular and successful top line champion remains Gragas (3 matches, 100% wins) and also Kennen (3 matches, 66% wins).
Wukong (6 games, 33% wins) and Sejuani (4 matches, 100% wins) play in the forest.
The centre line is played with Ahri (4 matches, 0% wins), Tristana (3 matches, 100% wins) and Syndra (3 matches, 100% wins).
The ADC position is most often occupied by Lucian (4 matches. 50% wins), Aphelios (4 matches, 75% wins).
Nami (3 games, 66% wins), Thresh (3 matches, 100% wins) are often paired with shooters.
