Let me start with a congratulations to all Manchester City fans for their first victory after a 7 draw games I believe? It was a great and interesting game, very fun to watch.
As I said earlier I has a game today, so I was a little tired and fell asleep on the half break, but woke up in the 49th minute so 4 minutes isn’t that bad
.
In the first half Chelsea was the better team in my opinion, controlled the ball better and longer, logically got to the first goal as well. Seems like City were really uncomfortable loosing 0:1 and Adebayor felt guilty for scoring an own goal, so they went full power and got theirs before half time with Adebayor scoring for 1:1 after a possible handball.
Now I am not that competent to decided whether it was a handball or not, it seemed like it to me, but the truth is that the Man City player who’s hand the ball hit was in such a position, that if the ball didn’t hit his hand, was going to hit his body and probably deflect the ball the same way his hand did. But I again that’s just my point of view. Everyone has the right to have their own opinion about the situation.
In the second half, seems like Chelsea became the more passive team and Man City took over their half of the field permanently for a while until the 2nd goal came. The referee gave a free kick near the penalty area and Carlos Tevez made it 2:1. I personally blame Petr Cech for the goal, because the shot was on the side of the goal which he was supposed to defend. For some reason he made a step for the other side and when he was the direction of the ball went back, but it was too late and wasn’t able to get it.
With the score 2:1 Chelsea had nothing to loose and started playing more offensive football. Substitutes were made, Juliano Belletti and John Obi Mikel came in play. After one cross Drogba got the ball in the penalty area and was taken down, the referee blew the whistle and pointed the white dot. And just when everyone was waiting on Frank Lampard to score Shay Given sensed the corner and made a great save. The score still remained 2:1. I still can’t believe Lampard didn’t score.
Did you know before today Lampard has scored 23 penalties and missed only 1? Talk about statistics….. !
With the clock ticking, the players became more nervous and what looked like angry and few yellow cards were given. At the very end Drogba had a chance to score again, but his shot was off the target. A loss for Chelsea, bringing Manchester City on the 6th place now, and Manchester United closer to Chelsea. The difference between the two now is only two points.
Alright I am off to keep on watching the game between Juventus and Inter Milan !
