Manchester City is only 5 points away from the 3rd spot in Premier League and has a chance at it. Tottenham are six points behind City, and need a victory.
Manchester City
Manchester City, had a goal this season to reach the 4th spot and they achieved it. With Arsenal’s poor performance, the Citizens have now a good chance to even reach the third spot. Currently Manchester City has 62 points in 35 games, home record that reads W11 D4 L2, scoring 30 goals in those games and conceding 12. Manchester City takes the second spot in the top 5 best defensive teams this season. The big news for the team are that Carlos Tevez might be on the bench ready to play. City have been able to record victories over 2 London teams this season, Chelsea and West Ham, draw against Fulham, and a 0:3 loss to Arsenal.
Tottenham
Tottenham wasn’t able to take advantage of the loss that Manchester City recorded against Everton two days ago. In fact the team got lucky to even get a point in their game against Blackpool, when Jermain Defoe was able to equalize in the 89th minute. Tottenham are currently 5th with 55 points, although Liverpool has a game on Monday and has a chance to surpass them, with a match more of course. The Spurs have an away record of W6 D5 L6, losing 2 of the last 4 visits, and drawing the remaining. Biggest problem for Tottenham would be the absence of Gareth Bale who got severely injured in the game against Blackpool.Crouch & Modric are also doubtful and things do not look pretty for Tottenham.
Prediction
With the remaining 2 rounds until the end of the season, plus this game for City and Tottenham, the overall placements are starting to get very clear. By the looks of it, seems like the Citizens lead is just too big for Tottenham to be able to reach the 4th spot, even Redknapp admits it. After the loss on Goodison Park, Mancini would like to bounce back here with a victory and why not pursue that 3rd spot after all.
