After a draw on St. James Park against Newcastle, Manchester United meets Everton on Old Trafford. The three points are a must here for United
The Red Devils are still holding the first spot with 70 points from 33 games played. Their home record reads W15 D1 L0, remaining the only team without a home loss this season. Mathematically speaking, United needs to gather 12 points in the remaining 5 games, if they want to be hundred percent sure that they will get this year’s title. The last time United lost points at home was against West Bromwich on October 16th 2010. Since then the team recorded 12 consecutive Premier League victories and is ready for their 13th one.
Everton are 7th, with 47 points in 33 played games, two points behind Liverpool who have 49. Last season, Everton started clumsy, but thanks to great games at the end of it finished 8th. This season is developing in the exact same way, as the team was taking the 19th spot at one point, the circled around the 15th and since round 27, they have started going up. Everton hasn’t lost a game since February 13th, and has recorded 5 victories and 2 draws since then in Premier league.
The first game this season was very exciting, as the half time ended 1:1, while the end result was 3:3. However, United lead 3:1 until the 90th minute, when Tim Cahill scored for 3:2 and Mikel Arteta scored the equalizer in the 93rd minute.
In the direct game on Old Trafford, Everton has never achieved victory since the creation of the Premier League. Their record reads W0 D3 L14, where the last draw was in 2005.
Manchester United has no more room for mistakes. The team has a fragile lead, and awaits two direct games against Arsenal on Emirates, and against Chelsea at home. On top of that the team has to pay a visit to Schalke in Germany for the semi-final of Champions League.
