After easily winning with 2:0 in Germany, Manchester United has the easier task now, to hold off Schalke on Old Trafford. Schalke needs at least 2 goals here.
Manchester United did what had to be done in Germany on Veltins-Arena, Gelsenkirchen, winning with 2:0. The first half of the game ended 0:0 after a brilliant Manuel Neuer who was able to save some unbelievable shots. However in the second half United’s dominance became too big, even for him, to keep his net clean. Overall Schalke can be considered lucky that they got off only with 2 goals in the net. United lost their Sunday game against Arsenal and now have another thing to worry as well, the title is in danger as Chelsea got as close as 3 points and will be visiting Old Trafford, 3 days after Schalke.
Schalke did not look well in the first match, barely making any attacks and shots on target. The team’s overall record against English opponents in England reads W0 D1 L3. The only draw ever recorded here was against Wolverhampton back in 1959. Schalke are 10th so far in the Bundesliga, and from the looks of it, seems like they will not be playing in Europe at all next season. This means that if they can get anything out of Champions League, it must be now.
Watching the game from the first leg, closely, I considered Schalke to be at least a class below Manchester United, as the team barely created any opportunities for a goal.
Without going much into further analysis, my prediction here would be a victory for Manchester United. Good luck betting.
