Whoever said “Money can’t buy you happiness” was perhaps talking about the team from Madrid.
After spending 260 million euro for transfers Real Madrid, was knocked out in the first elimination round by the team of Lyon.
I don’t think you can even compare the budgets of the two, and the level difference of Spanish Primiera Division and France League1.
By looking at the amount earlier staked for a win for Real Madrid @ Betfair.com my hat fell off.
There were close to a million on the home victory bet on such lousy odds @ 1.29. The draw however was 6.2 but of course you could never say how the game was going to end especially with the early goal of C. Ronaldo.
So as I was saying having a million staked on a home win, has sure pissed now a lot of bettors. In fact Real should get an advertising campaign to attract more fans and sports bettors that goes something like this:
“We are the richest team in the world according to the latest research! How cool are we?”
“Be sure to bet on us tonight for a home win, and you can have a once in a life time opportunity to break your remote and TV from anger”
“But wait there’s more! Bet on us in the next 10 minutes and our €250 million selection will hardly get away with the draw, and thank God that they didn’t loose”
“As a gift to your loyalty we will throw you an extra tip: Real Madrid will be on the FINAL, that will be played on Bernabeu, but in the VIP audience section”
“If all of the above didn’t convince you to bet and vouch for us, know that we had no excuse for our elimination. We can’t blame injured players or punished players that missed the game. By the way we quadrupled our T-shirts sales!”
“Hurry up, because the season is close to an end in a few months, and we are almost ready to give up the 1st spot to Barcelona”
Funny but history repeated itself for a very 3rd time. Real has now subscribed for Lyon’s program which is a win in France, a draw in Spain.
Folks if you have taken my picks for tonights games congratulations! If you are one of the many that lost money on Real Madrid, I hope you learned your lesson, that lowered odds and selections for gazillion euros don’t mean anything.
