Spain is the new World Cup 2010 champion, just two years after they became the Euro 2008 Champions. Through my eyes, this was the most boring final, and tournament I have ever watch. The only games I enjoyed were the games of Argentina, and Germany.
Every other team, showed nothing to remember. I don’t know what was the problem, like was it the Jabulani ball from which everyone complained, or the noise made by the vuvuzelas, or just exhaustion after the long season in Europe.
What happened on the final? Both teams came out in the expected formations, with the expected strategies. Spain controlled the ball, and through a lot of passes was trying to reach the goal. On the other hand Netherlands were waiting for counter attacks, and twice were very close to scoring, but I guess luck also plays an important part here.
After two somewhat boring first and second halves it was time for extra time. Both teams came up a bit changed, a bit more aggressive. The game became more interesting, perhaps they should have played like that the whole game.
Howard Webb made some questionable calls, showing a lot of yellow cards, saving few for no apparent reason. Although I was a Spain supporter, I had to agree that the attack before Spain scored the goal, there was a foul for Netherlands. Since he didn’t call it, Spain got the ball, attacked on their turn and scored.
But that’s just my own view, share yours in the comment section below. Anyways this final will not be remembered by me, and lots of people I watched it with. I am sure a lot of your will agree with me.
