PAOK Salonika

The Greek team managed to get out of the groups in Europa League last year, but was eliminate in the first knockout stage from CSKA Moscow. The team started this season from the third qualifying round against Vålerenga, a club from Norway. Two victories with 2:0 and 3:0 sent the team to the play-off stage where they had to face Karpaty Lviv. A victory in the first leg with the score of 2:0 and a draw 1:1 in the second leg, qualified PAOK in the group stage of Europa League. PAOK has met teams from London before, winning 1:0 against Arsenal in 1997/98 UEFA Cup. The Greeks are unbeaten in 5 European games so far this season, and have only 1 defeat in the past 8 home matches, the one against CSKA Moscow.

Tottenham

Tottenham participated in Champions League last season, and reached the quarter-finals, but was unfortunate enough to face Real Madrid, and logically were eliminated with the aggregate score of 0-5. This season, will compete in Europa League, having started from the play-off stage against the Scottish club, Hearts. A victory in the first match with 5:0 and a 0:0 in the second leg, qualified Tottenham to the group stage of this tournament. The 5:0 away victory for Spurs was their only away victory in 5 European fixtures.

Prediction

PAOK is standing strong so far this season in the home games, scoring 5 goals in two matches and conceding none.

The odds are very tied up, 2.60 for PAOK to win this match and 2.70 for Tottenham to win this game (Paddy Power).

The draw as usual looks like the value bet here, odds of 3.25, as both teams will be looking for a good start in this campaign even if it means sharing the points. (Paddy Power)

However, judging on Spurs performance in Premier League it looks like the team has major problems in defense. Take that and add to it, PAOK’s good performance at home and I think the home victory looks like the most logical outcome here.

My prediction, PAOK to grab the victory with a minimum lead.
