The second game for July 3rd would be between two teams with similar play style, yet from a different caliber.

Paraguay, has reached the quarter finals for the first time in their history. They have had qualified out of the groups as I recall 5 times but have never made it past the Rounds of 16. This time they were able to eliminated Japan after penalties and truly deserve to be there.

Their group wasn’t easy at all since they had the former World Cup 2006 Champions Italy. After a draw 1:1 and a victory over Slovakia with 2:0 and a draw against New Zealand 0:0, Paraguay advanced on top of the group.

Meanwhile the Spanish team started with an unexpected loss against Switzerland, but was able to recover the top spot from Chile, after winning over Honduras with 2:0 and a victory against Chile with 2:1.

In the rounds of 16 Spain met Portugal and with a controversial goal they were able to advance. Due to the FIFA new rules to not show the debatable moments of the game on the big screen in the stadiums and on the TVs we weren’t able to see at the time that the goal actually came from an offside.

What’s expected to happen?

We have a brilliant David Villa in this World Cup. I am expecting the Spanish team to put pressure and go for the early goal as they did with Portugal, but this time I sure hope with more success. Meanwhile I expect Paraguay to continue to impress and who knows write their own history if they achieve a success.

The Betting Verdict?

Spain – win @ 1.53 (Betfair.com): Spain is gaining speed, and so is David Villa. No doubt this talented played would wanna top the list for most scored goals and/or win the golden shoe as well. I expect nothing but a clean victory here.

David Villa to score at any time @ 2.1 (Betfair.com): Got this one right the last time! The odds were just as great as today. Three goals in 4 games, on this World Cup makes David Villa the safest and most logical bet in this game.
