Saturday Friendlies Betting Preview

Kidderminster vs. West Brom July 10th 2010 – 11:30 BST
Mansfield vs. Sheffield Utd July 10th 2010 – 14:00 BST
AFC Wimbledon vs. Charlton July 10th 2010 – 15:00 BST

Friendlies are always tough matches to bet on, as the bigger teams usually play their younger players, there is no form to go on and no real incentive to win the match.

However, in all the three matches I have stated above, there is such a gulf between the teams that their class should tell by the end- indeed, you can often get some of the biggest thrashings in games such as these, as smaller clubs also don’t risk their first team so early in pre-season.

Therefore, if you are to risk a bet on pre-season friendlies, these are the ones I would go for on Saturday.

The odds aren’t fantastic, so you will only win a limited amount, but they are as solid as friendlies get. The main incentive for making these bets is the gap in divisions that is present in all of the matches.

Predictions:

Backing West Brom @ 1.41
Backing Sheffield United @ 1.51
Backing Charlton @ 1.43
