After humiliating last year’s winner of Champions League at home, Schalke will meet Inter a week after at home on Veltins-Arena, Gelsenkirchen.

The game started promising for the Nerazzurri scoring in the first minute, but horrible defending lead to an end result of 2:5 and Inter almost with no chances to qualify for the semi-finals.

Schalke are unbeaten this season at home, recording four out of four victories. The team has also never lost a tie in UEFA Champions League after winning the first leg away.
There’s one game that both teams have played previously here back in 1997 for the UEFA Cup a game that ended draw with the score 1:1. Against Italian teams, Schalke is unbeaten recording 3 victories and 2 draw games at home. Most recent visitors where the team of Palermo for the UEFA Cup back in 2005-06, where Schalke won with 3:0.

Inter have a chance to be the first team to defend their title from last year, but the odds are slim. The team has been on quarter-finals 11 times and has been able to prevail in 8 of those. Inter’s away record against German opposition is W5 D7 L4, the most recent game against Bayern Munich the last round of Champions League, a game that ended 3:2 in favor of Inter.

Lucio is returning after being suspended for the first leg, and rumors are that Walter Samuel is training again, so might not be a surprise if Leonardo risks with him. The first game Chivu and Ranocchia were horrible, doing the same mistake as the derby with Milan, where Chivu picked up a red card, something he achieved in the game with Schalke as well and will be suspended for this match.

Both teams won their weekend games, Schalke with 1:0 over Wolfsburg, while Inter over Chievo with 2:0.

My predictions will be another German victory here. Inter’s defense was horrible, and despite the fact that Lucio is coming back I don’t think anything will change. The 5 goals conceded on home soil is too much of a difference. Inter will most likely be looking for a goal from the very first minute, giving Schalke opportunities and open space to counter attack. Good luck betting.
