In the last game of the group stage, the Winner from 1998 France will step up to the host of the finals South Africa.
This game can be called the game of hope, where even if on of the teams wins, the goals difference and the outcome of the other game would matter as well.
It’s no secret to anyone about the huge scandal in the French team and how bad it will affect their performance for this game. Nicolas Anelka was sent home, after he allegedly swore at coach Raymond Domenech, but refused to apologize later.
What’s even more interesting is how the media found out hours after this has happened. Arsenal defender William Gallas displayed his middle finger to a TV reporter after the Mexico game. He was upset that Patrice Evra has been made a captain.
Meanwhile Patrice Evra was involved in a fight with the team fitness coach Robert Duverne which led to the resignation of the team director.
Whether this information is true, or some sort of media trick for everybody to cry out how weak France is, we can’t be really sure. However without Anelka the team will surely miss a lot.
In the same time South Africa are ready for the match of their life. Coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has said, that defending while waiting for counter attacks isn’t gonna cut it this time. They will have to take this risk tomorrow and go full attack power and get theirs. What happens after that in the other game, they will leave it to chance.
So what’s to expect from this game?
After these scandals I doubt that France will get a hold of their team and be able to put a good game. In fact I am expecting a dominating South Africa, ready to win the 3 points, hoping to qualify with a goal difference.
Will it happen, only time will show!
What are some good bets for this game?
South Africa – wins @ 3.25 (Bet365.com): Based on the scandals in the French team, and the promises from the South African coach Carlos Alberto Parreira for a very offensive tactic, I am more than certain that South Africa will win the game tomorrow.
